Latest New Hampshire presidential poll (09/21/12): Mitt Romney takes the lead

September 20, 2012

Back in July the first poll results were out since Mitt Romney became the presumptive Republican nominee, and that poll had Mitt Romney trailing Barack Obama by four points at 49%-45%. However this poll showed him gaining ground on Barack Obama because in the April New Hampshire poll, before Romney became the presumptive nominee, Barack Obama led Mitt Romney by a 51%-42% margin.

And today the latest New Hampshire poll is out and it shows us that not only has Mitt Romney closed the gap on Barack Obama, he has pulled ahead of the president. Mitt Romney now holds a slim lead over Barack Obama by a 48%-45% margin. Still a statistical dead heat but good news for Mitt Romney.

In five months Mitt Romney has turned a nine point deficit into a three point lead and if my math is correct, that is a twelve point swing. Mitt Romney appears to have momentum in New Hampshire and while we are a small state with only four electoral votes in an election as close as this one is predicted to be these could be four very critical votes.

My gut instinct is this poll is closer to the truth than the previous ones, I base that on nothing but intuition. I believe Mitt Romney is going to win New Hampshire and if he does it may just hand him the victory in November. There is still plenty of time before the election but this is a good sign for Mitt Romney if he can build on the momentum he appears to have in the state.

Overall New Hampshire voters pride themselves on being independent thinkers and voters and I believe that Barack Obama’s “you didn’t build that” comment is coming back to haunt him in this state.

This is good news, indeed. Every state and every vote counts. Thanks for sharing, Steve.

You are welcome. And you are right about every vote counting, if Al Gore had won New Hampshire in 2000 he would have been president.

Yes! Yes! Yeeees! This is good news indeed, Steve. I have been telling people today that it makes sense to me that people were upset with this administration in 2010 and if anything they should be more upset now. I am not buying the polls the media is trying to sell.

I am not buying the polls either and I think this uprising in the Middle East is really going to hurt Obama. And his lying and his spin on the Libya attack is not helping, people have seen through it.

Agreed. The chaos in Libya and around the world I’d in no small part a true reflection of Obama’s weak foreign policy of appeasement and apology.

I think the chaos over there has really exposed Obama and quite a few moderate voters are now rethinking their support for him.

We can only hope that the polls showing the liar leading the milktoast are rigged for Obama. If not, then, what a sad commentary on the lazy uninformed disinterested people who supposedly feel and believe that
Obama rather than Romney has the best chance to solve the dent crisis. It strikes one as nothing more than an irrational fantasy that this enemy of us all can film flam the entire nation with his continual misrepresentation of reality. But then you can’t stay in business if nobody’s buying what you’re selling.

I do not trust the polls we have been seeing, they are slanted to favor Obama. Rasmussen is the one pollster we can trust and that is what makes this poll so encouraging.

As we know their strategy is to demoralize the right with misinformation and keep Romney voters home. If that doesn’t work there are always the Black Panthers manning the polls with their equalizers.

Exactly the plan Pmc3, make conservative feel all is lost in an attemp to make them feel is isn’t worth voting. This and divide and conquer is all Obama has left at this point.

Interesting post. I, too, think the race is closer than the msm is claiming… Romney has to go on the offensive, though. We saw the mistake that McCain made last time… Being too soft on Obama allowed the media to give home a free run.

    Wakey, Wakey!

I agree, it is time for Romney to really go on the offensive and hit Obama hard. I worry he doesn’t have it in him however.

Another consequence of Romney’s inability to make hay of Obama’s dismal record and obviousely anti-America agenda is the lack of coattails for other republican candidates. From the vantage point of an average America voter, as far as the eye can see, most people on the right appears to be fired as they erre for the 2010 midterms. The GOP, unlike the democrat party, is a house divided. If this election goes to Obama the the elephant should be replaced with the lemming. Someone needs to give Mitt a swift kick in the ass before it’s too late.

That’s a good point, if Romney doesn’t get out the vote it will hurt all Republicans lower on the ticket.

This should put foreign policy in focus, and cause at least a few Americans to wake up.Good news indeed Steve. Romney should not write off any states/

I don’t think he should write off any either, especially with the Middle East on fire. People are going to start questioning his foreign policy now, as well as the fact he is ignoring what is happening over there.

If you haven’t seen NOMObamas new flags with his logo and mugshot in place of the stars, you might want to check it out. And then tell every military vet, cop, and fireman you know about it. I have a picture and also the section of the U.S. Code pertaining to flag ettiquette on todays post. Feel free to take whatever parts you need to spread the word. This has the potential to cost him a lot of votes.

Great news on our newest poll. You guys talking about skewed polls are right on! They found some polls where the demoncrats had as much as 8% advantage in number of respondants. Tell a lie often enough and people start to believe it. I hope our voters are smarter than that, but I’m sure not all are.

It sure is great news! You are right, they are trying to make people believe the lie that Obama’s reelection is inevitable but I think people are beginning to see through this.

Mitt can use the votes that’s for sure. I still can’t understand why people in places like Pennsylvania vote for Obama when he’s trying to kill coal.

I don’t understand it either, I am hoping there are many Democrats who still say they are going to vote for Obama when they are asked who wil vote for Romney in private. Maybe they are unwilling to admit to others they made a mistake, but in private will do the right thing. At least I am holding out hope that will happen.
