Gunrunner: House Republicans threaten to subpoena White House aide Kevin O’Reilly

September 29, 2012

When Barack Obama used Executive Privilege to seal the Fast and Furious documents which might show a link between Barack Obama, Eric Holder and the deadly operation the investigation abruptly came to a halt and is effectively dead in the water pending a judicial order to unseal the documents.

But there is still one potential avenue that might soon be open for investigation and the avenue is named Kevin O’Reilly.

Kevin O’Reilly was a National Security adviser and is one of three White House aides who were receiving updates about Operation Fast and Furious and his testimony may shed some light on what Barack Obama and Eric Holder knew and when they knew it. But to this point he has been unwilling to testify.  It requires the willing suspension of disbelief to think that three people who served directly under Barack Obama in the White House were receiving updates about Fast and Furious and not one of them felt the issue was important enough to even mention it to the president.

And that suspicion is raised a level because Kevin O’Reilly has refused to testify both before the Oversight Committee and Eric Holder’s Department of Injustice’s internal investigation. What is he hiding and who is he protecting? These are questions which need answers and the DOJ investigators wanted to look into this angle as well, but in their report claimed Kevin O’Reilly made it impossible to investigate the possible link between himself and Barack Obama.

And the plot thickens still when remember that Kevin O’Reilly was reassigned to Iraq at one time and was made unavailable to testify by the Department of Injustice. Somebody seems worried about what this man knows.

According to this article House Republicans are now threatening to subpoena Kevin O’Reilly and force him to testify on Operation Fast and Furious.

Given that O’Reilly was the link connecting the White House to the scandal, and that the President subsequently asserted executive privilege over the documents pertaining to Fast and Furious, it is imperative that the American people get to the bottom of O’Reilly’s involvement with Fast and Furious,” says the letter to O’Reilly’s attorney

They have given Kevin O’Reilly 30 days to comply willingly or face a subpoena. We need to know what Kevin O’Reilly knows and it is beyond time for this action. This is an action which should have taken once it was clear that Kevin O’Reilly was not going to cooperate with either investigation and I wonder why it took Darrell Issa so long to move on this.

I would like to think that he will eventually testify. But, what are chances that he will claim the 5th?

A likely possibility Jim, I am not hopeful that this will lead to anything at this point.

Steve, sadly you appear to be the only one covering this scandal still. The press can’t even be bothered to deal with the murders in Libya, the forewarning of it and the cover-up after it.

This president’s administration seems to have a reckless disregard for people who serve this nation… perhaps because they don’t care about people who serve this nation.

This issue never got the coverage it deserved and it is getting even less now that Obama has sealed the records. It appears we are almost out of options to get to the truth and the few places that were covering it have given up.
YOu are right about the disregard Obama seems to have for the people who serve this nation. As long as he can use them to serve his purpose he will, but when they can no longer help him he doesn’t give a damn about them.

Thank you! We are running out of angels to persue in this story but I hope the Republicans don’t give up until they have covered all the bases.

In the end this Administration will not be noted for the “Transparency and Openness” B.H. Obama based his candidacy on but will become known as the “The Smoke and Mirrors” Administration. It’s a sad four years for America, let’s not extend the sadness! Our job now is to activate the conservative base, under duress by the media, and get the vote out.

      “Smoke and Mirrors”
I think that sums up the whole Obama regime in a nutshell. I think it would make an accurate campaign slogan.

If there’s any way for obama to prevent this guy from testifying by claiming some sort of executive privilege, you can bet he’ll do it. I’m continually amazed that there is so little outrage in this country over F&F.

That it has become a “non-issue” to most people is what is sad. Now there is an article I read about Univision??? bringing out a program on it shortly. It seems that the Mexican point of view is not as complacent as it is here in the states. Maybe that will fuel it a bit more. That is the tv channel that Obama tried to go on about Amnesty/Illegal Immigration and they at least asked him more than the soft ball questions he gets here. I wonder if he thought they would be opened armed to him, he was not giving any interviews here or “pressers”, only stupid shows like Letterman, Leno and the View. So, there might be some hope that F&F takes off again. As to that man being questioned, look for him to disappear, be re-appointed OR taken out, this Administration has not choice. They can not have him talking, guess they thought they had all their bases covered.

Univision is airing a special on Fast and Furious tonight and they are calling it a blockbuster. I saw the trailer and it seemed to me as if there was nothing new to people who have been following this story closely. But this will bring the scandal to a new audience before the election, and it is a critical voting block for Obama, so if enough people see this special who haven’t heard of Fast and Furious before it could have a harmful effect on the election for Obama. It is sad that Spanish television is covering this story in much more detail than American television.
