CBS cut a portion of a September 12th interview with Barack Obama where he admitted the Libya attack was terrorism

October 25, 2012

This is an interesting story for a couple of reasons which I will address in this post.

On September 12th Barack Obama conducted an interview with ’60 Minutes’ in which he alluded to the fact that the attack on the United States consulate in Libya  was a terrorist attack and wasn’t linked to the You Tube video that nobody saw:

You’re right that this is not a situation that was exactly the same as what happened in Egypt, and my suspicion is, is that there are folks involved in this who were looking to target Americans from the start

But CBS decided to cut this portion of the interview from their broadcast and we can only assume at this point it was because Barack Obama was still publicly  trying to blame this attack on America and a You Tube video and they were trying to cover Barack Obama’s back–either on their own or at the request of Barack Obama. For whatever reason CBS decided to not run a clip from Barack Obama which contradicted his official story at that time.

But then came the second debate and when Mitt Romney hammered him on his response to the attack Barack Obama looked the American people in the eye and made the false claim that in the speech he gave in the Rose Garden on September 12th he made the connection between the Libya attack and terrorism.

This is where the story gets very interesting to me because I commented on several of my favorite blogs both before and after the last debate that I thought Barack Obama had a trap ready to spring against Mitt Romney, but I didn’t know what it was. Now I think I do.

The first question in the last debate was about the Libya attack and Mitt Romney took the high road and didn’t attack Barack Obama on this issue. When he didn’t take the bait Barack Obama went back to the Libya issue later on in one of his answers looking to draw Mitt Romney in but once again Mitt Romney steered clear of  directly criticizing Barack Obama on Libya, drawing consternation from many people who wanted to see him attack the president on this issue.

This was followed by the news that Barack Obama knew this was a terrorist attack within two hours after the attack began. Realizing that Barack Obama might be in trouble for continuing to push the narrative about the attack being in response to a You Tube video, and understanding that Barack Obama’s official story was changing, CBS decided to cover Barack Obama’s back once again by releasing the cut portion of the interview to show proof that Barack Obama linked the attack to terrorism from the beginning.

Barack Obama knew this part of his interview was in the can at CBS when he took to the stage for the last debate and he knew that if he enticed Mitt Romney to attack him on Libya that this could be released as proof that he as telling the truth and Mitt Romney was wrong.

I am not prepared to say Barack Obama and CBS colluded from the beginning to set up Mitt Romney on this issue, but rather that Barack Obama knew this was out there and could be used against Mitt Romney when the time was right.

Barack Obama had hoped that when this portion of the interview was made public that it would prove Mitt Romney spoke out of turn, but with Mitt Romney exerting restraint during the last debate this new revelation has only proven that Barack Obama was lying to the American people for two weeks about the true reason behind the attack. Barack Obama and his regime were involved in a cover up and CBS was a willing accomplice.

Great analysis and think you nailed it. It was clear that Obama lost his way when Romney would not bite. I just hope that Romney doesnt try and “skate” through the next week. Obama is still out there rattleling around.

Thanks and you are right about Romney, he needs to continue to attack Obama and he cannot rest until the election is over. He was the momentum and he needs to keep it up and I think he will.

I disagree Steve. I thoroughly believe that if obama were to attempt this (and Mitt was on his game), that this is a huge problem for obama! It doesn’t matter, which way he spins it, he lied. Either in the front end, or the back end, pick your point, front or back.. he lied. He has no way out of this. So let’s say Obama draws him into this trap and Mitt bites. Then he says he has proof that he claimed it was a terrorist attack. 1st he has to state when and where this video is from. If I’m Mitt, then my first question is, “What? you withheld this information from the people? You can’t say it had anything to do with national security this time, because you just said that it was during a TV interview right? Then the next jab, to the heart in my opinion is, is then why did you LIE to the people? If you now say you saw this for what it was, why not tell the people this, instead of feeding them lies? What is the purpose of lying here? It’s lose/lose any way you look at it. And then to further push this lie into the grave, why did you tell the UN 11 days later that it was over a video? You didn’t just lie to Americans, but the entire world? He has no way out of this, he’s either lied up front, or lying now.. which is it???

I see your point and somewhat agree. However, we have to keep in mind that Romney knows full well how anything he says will be twisted by the media. Even though he would have had the facts on his side, he would have been portrayed as the bad guy in the biased media. Even though I still want this to blow up in Obama’s face, he deserves it, Romney was smart on this issue.

No matter what Romney does he will be painted as the bad guy and he knows this, the media stopped doing its job a long time ago. If they covered this story the way it should be covered Obama would have already lost this election.

Very good point there Sonny and you could be right but we know the media will have Obama’s back and they would spin this against Romney. Will the American people see through this if it went down that way, it is possible, but the media would do all they can to make him the bad guy.If Romney is elected the truth will come out at some point and then the American people will learn exactly how politically motivated and incompetant the Obama regime really was.
