Open thread for Thursday, November 1st: Butterflies and Hurricanes edition

November 1, 2012

This is the open thread for Thursday, November 1st; please feel free to leave links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues might come up during the day.

Between this open thread and the open thread scheduled for Sunday you are going to get two ‘Muse’ songs, sorry for the repetition but I already had my election fight song picked out for the last open thread before the election. The suspense must be killing you but I guess you’ll just have to tune in on Sunday to find out what it is. 🙂

On to today’s musical selection it is a song called ‘Butterflies and Hurricanes’ and I picked it out for no other reason than it had the word ‘hurricane’ in the title and Sandy was the big news story (Barack Obama gives his thanks) of the week. If I try real hard I can tie some of the lyrics to the election next week:

you’ve got to change the world
and you use this chance to be heard
your time is now

I guess I have a gripe today…what I want to know is WHY is it such a big deal that Obama is dealing with the hurricane? Isn’t this what is part of job? Do we have to sing him praises because he is actually doing what he was put in the office to do? He dropped the ball on Benghazi or if you are of OUR mind, he let it happen, that is what we and the media should still be focusing on, not something that he should be doing, anyway. All I am reading is how “presidential” he is,,,well big deal…isn’t that included in part of his “jobs” discription that he needs to do? Correct me if you think I am wrong here. This should have NO impact on the polls, he is being paid to do this job, we do not have to be grateful that he is helping…give me a break!

      Lou,
Keep in mind Bill Clinton in 1995, all but packing his bags for the next flight to Little Rock and then the OK City bombing. His “looking presidential” was reported ad nausium. The rest is history. Never under estimate the star struck simpletons who will pull back the voting booth curtain and push the illuminated X for this disgrace of a president. Nothing would surprise me less than going to bed under the stars shining on this commie bastard and a second term,.

Paraphrasing Kahlil Gibran…we must first endure the winter to appreciate the spring. We’ve endured the Obama winter so bring on the Romney spring.

The Romney Spring Pmc3, that sounds allot better than the Arab Spring Obama ushered in!

New unemployment numbers just in.. up to 7.9% Of course this won’t include the fact that obama asked the defense contractors to break the law by not issuing the mandated 60 day layoff off notices to some 30,000 employees that won’t be working around the end of the year… (warn act).

Yep, fudging the numbers once again and yet nobody is calling him out on getting defense to delay the layoffs until after the election.
