America heads to the polls tomorrow, our future is at stake

November 5, 2012

Tomorrow Americans head to the polls to decide which candidate will serve as our president for the next four years and there is a clear choice to be made. These two candidates have differing opinions about which direction America should head in.

One candidate believes the government is the solution to our problems while the other candidate believes the government is the problem. One candidate believes in a society which is dependent on the government and the other candidate believes in a people who can rise to the occasion and succeed without the government interfering.

Barack Obama’s vision is clear; he wants more of the same failed policies which include higher taxes and more government regulation and oversight. He wants a Nanny State, re-distributive  European style socialistic society.

Mitt Romney’s vision is the opposite; he believes in lower taxes and regulations, (not no regulations) with the free market and free enterprise leading the way out of the economic doldrums which have encompassed our nation.  He believes in a people which is capable of standing on their own without the government providing for their very sustenance, but rather a government that is there to help a person temporarily when they fall on hard times.

The closing arguments made by these two men also couldn’t be much different; Mitt Romney is talking about bringing Americans back together. He talks of working with Democrats (as he did in Massachusetts) to solve this nation’s problems, while Barack Obama is still using the politics of division in his attempt to win reelection.

Barack Obama talks about voting out of revenge (for what?) while Mitt Romney talks about voting because of a love of country.

The question is; what vision of America will the voters decide is the best way forward? Honestly, I have no idea how America is going to vote tomorrow and that is what is most troubling to me.

One would think that people would look at Barack Obama failed policies and his lack of leadership and vote overwhelmingly to change direction, but the polls remain close and it appears as if we are in for a long night before we learn the results of this election.

Democrats claim this is proof that Mitt Romney is in trouble because he couldn’t seal the deal, while Republicans claim the polls are flawed because they are using the 2008 voting model when clearly the electorate has shifted both with Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts and with the Tea Party victory in 2010. But who is right? Simply put, we won’t know until the votes are counted.

I have no profound or prophetic words to say here other than to say that this is the culmination of four years of hard work to turn the tide in America and I can only hope that Americans make the right decision tomorrow. But no matter who wins tomorrow our job is not complete for we must stay ever vigilant and hold all of our elected officials responsible for their actions. We know we will have to continue to hold Barack Obama accountable if he is reelected, but we must also make sure that Mitt Romney lives up to his promises if he is elected.

America is standing on the precipice and no matter who wins we must continue to fight for the future of the country and this election is not the end, it is only the beginning.

Perhaps our “long national nightmare” will end. I pray so. Either way, you are right, we shall fight on till the end.

I hope so as well, and I am trying to stay optimistic but it is hard. We must continue to fight as long as we have a voice!

My instincts tell me Americans will not give Obama another four years. He had his chance and blew it. I don’t even want to think about how i am going to feel if Obama does win. I fear that would be the end of hope.

My instinct wants me to believe America will send Obama packing, but something inside me tells me that there are simply too many Americans addicted to the government handouts to make this happen. I hope I am wrong, but I just don’t know…..

Good insights, Steve. I am hopeful that enough Americans will see reason and help Mitt Romney carry the election. I have been cautiously optimistic about his chances, but the thought of Barack Obama winning a second term makes me sick to my stomach. I have serious doubts that America can withstand or recuperate from four more years that would very likely be much worse than his first term.

Thanks Larry! I don’t even want to think about what Obama will pull once he has “more flexibility.” It truly is a scary thought!

Larry, I have a feeling that it would NOT be 4 more years, he will have the ability to suspend elections forever, given how most go along with what ever he wants, in Congress. We have to win this one, or his 2nd term will turn into a life long term, I fear.

Remember… 32 years ago the polls were “too close to call” and it was a blow out:

Let’s hope for the same thing tomorrow!

Well put my friend. It’s time let this man go and undo all the harm he has done to America.

Steve, we need an open thread for the vote day. Is that possible? We can post for our areas as to what we see, might help with moral. We HAVE to win this one, because if we don’t, our country is in big trouble. This is going to be a long day.

My pessimism fostered by pragmatism does not permit me to believe that a majority of American voters know what the proctologist in chief is planning for them. Assuming an Obama win tonight the battle between the Cluntons for 2016 and Obama’s try at regent for life will begin tomorrow. Chris Chrustie can be appointed nutrition czar or presidential huggy bear.

Kind of hard being an optimist with this administration still in control, isn’t it? At least if Obama does get in, I think we will have a show to watch between the Obama’s and the Clinton’s. I still have my reservations on Christie, not sure why he did what he did.

Lou/ NJ is a deep blue state and for him French kissing Obama was his way of covering his politician’s ass come what may today. The NJ voters suprisingly chose to send our criminal governor Corzine packing and elect a man we conservatives knew could swing either way once elected.
The search for an honest man is never ending.

I could see that happening. As for Corzine, a crook is a crook is a crook…but he will never do time, as Holder will never, as well. We have allowed this to happen over time, so now it is time to stop the insanity and get back to what is the right direction for our country. Obama is NOT that direction. I live in Illinois, another deep blue state…problem is, if you take anything south of Chicago, it is red/conservative, if that tells you of the corruption here. And, where did this administration come from? Illinois! There are so few honest men left, the search will go on….

I am growing more and more pessimistic as the day wears on, I am trying to remain hopeful but it isn’t easy.

Take some deep breaths, Steve…if all else fails, “head between the knees”. We either get thru this or not, remains to be seen. Whatever happens, we will pick up the pieces and carry on, it is in our DNA.
