Janet Napolitano will determine when the borders are secure before amnesty is granted in the new immigration reform bill
As of this writing a bipartisan framework for comprehensive immigration reform has been drafted. Republicans who support the framework of this proposal are trying to sell it to the base on the fact that the border will be secured before amnesty is granted, unlike when President Reagan granted amnesty.
It has been written that President Reagan regretted granting amnesty before the border was secured because although the people were told that once amnesty was granted and the borders were secure there would be no further illegal alien problem that simply wasn’t true because illegal immigrants have continued to flood into the country through our open borders–the borders were never secured.
So here we are today facing the same problem and this time we are being told it will be different because amnesty will be contingent on a secure border. Border security will be assessed by some group and once that group determined the border is secure the process for granting amnesty will begin to roll out.
The questions about this plan were always these: who decides if the border is secure enough and what criteria will be used?
According to this article we now have the answers: Janet Napolitano will have the final say on border security, once she deems the border is secure amnesty will begin.
What criteria will she use? We can only speculate at this time, but we do know that she is already on record as saying the border has never been more secure. Would anyone be surprised if this was the criteria she used to deem the border secure and allow the almost immediate implementation of the amnesty portion of the legislation?
The fix appears to be in and the Republicans are playing us for fools.
The fix has been in for quite a while so now the fine tuning starts and the two parties will work hand in hand to legitimize the barbarians outside the gates as well as those trespassers already in the gates.

I wish I could disagree but I cannot. The ruling class will win and the people will lose.

I was stunned as well when I read the report. Something indeed smells. At the best, Rubio sees this as his opportunity for 2016, ole Lindsay, no surprise, but at the worse, the GOP was set up or knowing allowed the cleaning out of the Tea Party, conservative foiks.

It is disgraceful what the Republican party is doing to us at this point!

Don’t we feel safer already, knowing Janet Napolitano is on the job, ready to make sure the border is secure? NOT!!
Seriously, they need to keep her as far away from border security as possible. She wouldn’t recognize a secure border if it fell on her head.

And now it is being rumored she may run for president in 2016.

You know those things that happen or are said that we are not sure how they fit in? Well, this seems to be one of them, when Napolitano said about how secure the borders were, we should have known. I know we all have “bullshit” meters, but that one slipped by as just something stupid that she had said. I guess from now on, no matter how “stupid” it seems, we had better apply it in the serious area to be watched. And, yes we are being played for fools from both sides of the aisle. We have so little say in what goes on in our lives, it is pitiful. Maybe we should just take all our money out of retirement accounts (before Obama takes over to make sure it is safe), spend it like there is no tomorrow and enjoy life while we can, because I don’t see much good happening in our futures. Do you? I have never seen an administration that can do as much harm in so little time as this one has. Everything is going crazy and the nuts are running the country. It is OUR country and they work for us…so how do we take it back? Guess that is the question.

You are right Lou, nothing that is said in the regime is said by mistake. They were setting this up from the beginning just as they set up the “war on women” in that debate with Romney. It seems the Democrats are always one (or more) step ahead of us.
The future doesn’t look good in my opinion but I don’t know how we go about taking it back.

If the Republicans let this bill pass with Napolitano deciding when the border is secure, then the Republicans are in on a rigged game and the Democrats will pick up 12 million new voters. If the Republcans are serious about securing the borders, they must insist that the administration (DHS) present their case that the borders are secure to joint hearings of Congress where witnesses can be called to testify; such as, sheriffs from counties along the borders and governors from the border states. Then both Houses would have vote to accept or deny the DHS report.

I think the Rebublicans are throwing in the towel on this because they think it will help thsm and in the end that is all they care about. This will backfire on them and they are the only ones who don’t realize it.
