Barack Obama rails against sequestration even though he signed it into law
Back in August of 2011 Barack Obama signed sequestration into law in exchange for raising the debt ceiling, but now as sequestration inches closer to reality Barack Obama is claiming it will hurt the economy to allow the policies he supported to be allowed to go into effect, and he is calling on the Congress to protect America from his own policies while trying to deflect his decision back on the Congress.
Here is what he is saying now:
I know that a full budget may not be finished before March 1 and, unfortunately, that’s the date when a series of harmful automatic cuts to job-creating investments and defense spending — also known as the sequester — are scheduled to take effect
So let me just repeat: Our economy right now is headed in the right direction, and it will stay that way as long as there aren’t any more self-inflicted wounds coming out of Washington. So let’s keep on chipping away at this problem together, as Democrats and Republicans, to give our workers and our businesses the support that they need to thrive in the weeks and months ahead
It is clear to me that Barack Obama only asked for and signed these cuts into law as a means to kick the can down the road until after the presidential election of 2012. With that pesky little election out of the way he is now seeking to undo what he has done.
The irony is not lost on at least one Republican:
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, says the sequester was President Obama’s idea: “He proposed it and he insisted it be a part of the 2011 debt limit deal. House Republicans have voted twice to replace the arbitrary and harmful sequestration cuts with targeted, common-sense spending reductions that do not threaten our national security. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats rejected those plans, offering no replacement solutions of their own.
“While it is encouraging to see that the president now agrees that his sequestration plan is ‘harmful’ and ‘economically damaging,’ his call for higher taxes on hard-working American families will only serve to discourage economic growth.”
Barack Obama and the Democrats were forced into this situation because they have refused to pass a budget over the last four years and now Barack Obama has the audacity (of hope) to place the blame at the feet of the Congress?

Let me see if I understand this. Republicans fli-flop and Democrats evolve. Do I have that right?

If all they did was “evolve” we would be lucky! We are on a fast track to hell right now, Jim!

Yes, that is the way the media portrays it. Barack Obama simply “evolved” on this issue.

Well, we have one Republican calling Obama on this. Better than none I guess…

It is so disappointing that the Republicans don’t call him out on this, but then again, I am used to this crop of Republicans letting me down.

The harmful and economically dangerous character of sequestration will be laid at the doorstep of the republicans you can bet your sweet zippy. It would be priceless to see Obama on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh in saying “Sock it to em'”.
Aside from this it seems that the Clinton machine has started its campaign to discredit Krispy Kreme Christie’s 2016 White House bid with the former WH doctor emerging from the depths of anonymity to start the attack on his weight. Maybe the Christie team can get Blackwell to put Hillary on his worst dressed list. This should be some campaign; as Christie continues in his role as “The Incredible Bulk”, Hillary’s ass grows increasingly rotund, Jes sayin’ yo…

NO matter what happens the Republicans will be blamed, we can count on that. There is no doubt that they began trying to discredit Christie this week, but I am not a big fan of his anyway.

As we from the old days know, it should read”sweet bippy”. The self correction is really annoying.

I have heard various thoughts on this. Some think that Obama may have dug himself a hole, I doubt it. The cancelling of one of our Carriers to the Gulf is just the start to blame the GOPers. Meanwhile the focus is on Christie and his weight.

Obama can’t dig himself a hole because the MSM is always there to pull him out and push the dirt on the Republicans.

It is becoming standard operating procedure for Obama to ask for something, get it, and then blame someone else when he doesn’t like the results. How anyone could trust him after four years of seeing how he operates is beyond my comprehension.

He is a master at that, isn’t he Larry? We are in for a long four years.
