Colorado Democrat claims that women afraid of rape shouldn’t carry guns

 While speaking on the Colorado House Floor about disarming college students misogynistic Democrat Joe Salazar claimed that is a woman is afraid of being raped she shouldn’t carry a weapon to protect herself:

It’s why we have call boxes; it’s why we have safe zones; it’s why we have the whistles — because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop … pop a round at somebody,” Salazar said.

  He has since apologized but the fact is that he said what he said and he meant it or else he wouldn’t have said it in the first place. Apparently he feels women are too emotional and won’t think rationally when they care confronted by a stranger and therefor cannot be trusted with a firearm.

    This is just as outrageous a comment as Todd Akin’s  claim that a woman can simply will away a pregnancy in the case of “legitimate rape” and he should suffer the same fate when he comes up for reelection.

  One Colorado college has a better way of protecting yourself during a rape–they suggest pissing yourself instead. 

    Apparently they feel as if a woman should cower in fear to the point of losing  her bowels instead of protecting herself from this situation in the first place. I suppose if we kept women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen they wouldn’t have to worry about being raped in the first place, and the Republicans are the ones who are waging the war on women?

  But this goes beyond women and weapons because this strikes at the argument about carrying weapons for self defense in the first place: The Supreme Court has already ruled that the second amendment gives an individual the right to carry a firearm, but if a woman cannot be trusted to carry a weapon for self defense isn’t it only a matter of time before somebody argues that a man cannot be trusted with a weapon for self defense either?

  After all, don’t men also fly off the handle at times and if they are so paranoid that they feel they need to carry a weapon can they really be trusted either?  Don’t be surprised if this argument is made in the near future because that is what this really is all about–countering the self defense argument in regards to the second amendment.
