Barack Obama is selling access to the White House to Organizing for America

February 26, 2013

After the 2012 election was over Barack Obama morphed his campaign apparatus, Obama for America, into a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c) organization called Organizing for America so that he could continue to use his campaign contacts to raise money to promote his liberal agenda.

And now we are learning that Barack Obama is selling access to the White House to Organizing for America.

But those contributions will also translate into access, according to donors courted by the president’s aides. Next month, Organizing for Action will hold a “founders summit” at a hotel near the White House, where donors paying $50,000 each will mingle with Mr. Obama’s former campaign manager, Jim Messina, and Mr. Carson, who previously led the White House Office of Public Engagement.

Giving or raising $500,000 or more puts donors on a national advisory board for Mr. Obama’s group and the privilege of attending quarterly meetings with the president, along with other meetings at the White House. Moreover, the new cash demands on Mr. Obama’s top donors and bundlers come as many of them are angling for appointments to administration jobs or ambassadorships.

Major donors will have frequent meetings with the president at the White House and because Organizing for America is a 501(c) it doesn’t have to disclose its donors, meaning nobody will know who the hell is meeting with the president for what reasons.

This is quite odd hypocritical considering that while running for president in 2008 Barack Obama promised to end the influence of lobbyists in Washington and bemoaned all the money in politics.

MSNBC, while not coming out and condemning this decision, can’t even defend it:

This just looks bad–it looks like the White House is selling access,” Todd said Monday. “It’s the definition of selling access. If you believe money has a strangle hold over the entire political system this is ceding the moral high ground.

The left-leaning group which was influential in passing the partially gutted campaign finance law, Common cause,  had much more harsh words about this news–they want Organizing for America shut down:

If President Obama is serious about his often-expressed desire to rein in big money in politics, he should shut down Organizing for Action and disavow any plan to schedule regular meetings with its major donors,” said Bob Edgar, president of Common Cause, which helped pass the 2002 campaign finance law.

“With its reported promise of quarterly presidential meetings for donors and ‘bundlers’ who raise $500,000, Organizing For Action apparently intends to extend and deepen the pay-to-play Washington culture thatBarack Obamacame to prominence pledging to end,” Edgar said.

This certainly seems like a pay to play scheme to me and once again we see that Barack Obama’s rhetoric doesn’t match his actions.

It´´s the Chicago way, Steve. It´´s reward your friends and punish your enimies. That is the Obama legacy.

That pretty much sums it up; we elected the Chicago machine to Washington and that is what we are getting.

No shame now. All they are interested in is 2014. Once they control the House, his mission is complete.

He isn’t the first and he isn’t the last but in this case this is something Obama promised to change, not that I believed him anyway.

Completely disgusting and you have laid out all the reasons why it is so. Ad nauseum, we have heard Obama bash special interest groups and lobbyists, but he is no better than any other politician, and worse than many. I can’t wait to hear how he explains this one away. Must have been George W. Bush.

I don’t know if he’ll need to explain it LD. He has a fawning media and millions of supporters that would lay down in traffic for him.

Yeah, Bush made things so bad that he has to take this money, even though he doesn’t want to, in order to fix what Bush did. 🙂 I can actually hear him saying this, but he won’t get called out on it in the media so this will probably just disappear.

The people of Chicago didn’t ask the mob to come to their city – meaning they didn’t want/elect them there, similarly the mob ruining the nation. If there would be a ‘true read’ or honest election I think we’d find they’re not there honestly (proud of it even). The Laws are written to protect the guilty and those who heed by the law will suffer or be made to break it because of Higher Laws of the Creator.

Hey big surprise…Obama is a hypocrite! Can you imagine if this was a Republican or conservative. The MSM would have a field day. Instead we hear crickets….

    • February 27, 2013 7:47 pm

Yep, the MSM is in full protect Obama mode and it would be quite different if this were GWB.

This dark cloud over DC has a silver lining for the once fawning and now whining, due to their being shown the door by the WH, press corpse. For a mere 50 G’s any and all of these Obama acolytes can buy access to their Messiah, about the price of a hand job anywhere else. Any other analysis would be an understatement as to the corruption which is becoming commonplace in this administration abetted by a neutered opposition party as well as a silent congress on both sides of the aisle. In dollars and cents what was tally of the tribute paid to Obama and company by Hollywood on Oscar Night? Added together with the campaigner in chirfs latest tribute scheme the First Couple are well on their way to a total denigration of the presidency. Gerbils and Quisling would be proud.

It appears as if Obama has taken a page out of Goebbels’s playbook, keep repeating the lie until it is the truth.

Sounds familiar… Bill Clinton renting the Lincoln bedroom for similar things.

Funny how you don’t read about Republicans doing that in the White House, eh?
