Democrat hopeful claims “conceal and carry” failed in Colorado theater shooting

April 5, 2013

Robin Kelly is a Democrat who is running for the seat which was vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr., and she is against people being allowed to carry concealed weapons.  She decided to defend her position by saying this:

in the movie [theater], they have conceal and carry, but nobody pulled out their guns to kill the gentleman that did all the damage that he did.

She was talking about the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting in the quote above. Much like Diana DeGette, who is the main sponsor of a bill banning high capacity magazines but doesn’t know magazines can be reloaded once they are emptied, this woman has no idea what the hell she is talking about.

She doesn’t even know the proper term for a person who is concealing a weapon–and why did she refer to James Holmes as a gentleman–but I’ll let that go because that is the least of her misstatements. She claimed that the theater in which James Holmes committed his despicable act was a gun free zone–in fact she was using this to prove that concealed carry doesn’t work–but the truth is that particular movie theater was the only one in the area which was actually a gun free zone. That is why James Holmes picked this theater to do his deed–he knew this was the one place where he would be the only person with a weapon.

Robin Kelly is either woefully ignorant of the facts or she is purposely lying to the people she wishes to represent in order to push her anti-second amendment agenda.

At this point I can even decide which one would be worse…..

She has all the qualifications of a Democrat on this issue–she is willing to lie to push the agenda–so I think it is all but certain she will be elected.

You have to remember that, here in Illinois, ignorance is a positive political trait. Mu Illinois visitors here excepted, of course!

Having never been to Illinois I hate to paint your state with a broad brush but it does seem that ignorance prevails all too often.

Yep! Phillip and I are from an elite small group of people in Illinois that actually USE our brains! There is an open door policy for illegals here, they make a bee line for our state. We are broke, but still have money for Medicaid, Welfare, Obamaphones ,EBT cards, etc. We are a full service State for those in need. The problem is, those of us that are paying for this service are going downhill fast. I wish we were in the position to move, but we are not, so we continue getting taxed to death just to make sure these lowlifes are taken care of. Does this seem logical to you?

It really is out of control when the illegals are taken care of better than the citizens, isn’t it? If you are ever able to and do decide to move please consider New Hampshire! We need more people like you here and all is not yet lost here…..yet!

i know how you all feel…i am here in california where spanish is almost the official language. you want to find a job fast, better be able to communicate with your illegal co-workers if not you go hungry. a state where you get everything for free if you just say you have no papers and speak no english…california stinks but as lou222 said we cannot just pick up and move somewhere else.

It is amazing the ignorance of elected representatives. Not only do they not read bills, they can’t even trouble themselves to learn the subject matter.

    Steve,

How does one educate an electorate who blindly or willfully believe inaccuracies or lies from their politicians – despite the numerous and EASY ways one can discover the truth and facts? They don’t care what these politicians say, they just vote for whomever will GIVE them the most. How can one compete against that type of mentality?

You cannot, Laura! There is our problem! There are doers and there are takers and I think the takers have increased to where we probably cannot turn this thing around. Sad that they have such low self esteem that they allow someone like Obama call the shots in their lives, isn’t it?

I wish I could argue that point Lou, but the last election did show us that there are simply too many takers who are voting. These people pay little to no taxes so what do they care if taxes are raised on us? It may be too late to turn it around but we owe it to ourselves to keep fighting. I will and I know you will as well, I just hope that others do not give up hope.

Hi Lou (I apologize, don’t know if you are a Mr. or a Mrs./Ms.),

I agree, definitely have doers and takers, I think we still outnumber the takers by a small majority. However, amnesty would do us in for sure.

I don’t know if it is low self-esteem or other things: they are anti-gun and WANT to believe everything that re-enforces that belief; they are strong supporters of all democrats; they believe their party’s elected officials would never LIE or have the wrong information/not verify their information; laziness – don’t want to actually take the time to research and think for themselves, they are perfectly happy letting someone else do it for them.

I don’t know why they do it, but you’re right, it is OUR problem. I agree with Steve, we won’t stop fighting & we have to hope others will keep fighting and not lose hope.

That would be Mrs. Lou. You may be right about the doers still outnumbering the takers Laura. There were many doers who it appears stayed home in 2012 because they have become disillusioned with the Republican party and what we need to do is find people who can bring them back in 2014 and 2016.
