Open thread for Sunday, April 28th: I’m Eighteen

April 28, 2013

Here is the open thread for Sunday, April 28th: please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever topics arise during the course of the day.

You may follow America’s Watchtower on Twitter and Facebook by clinking on the links to the right, and you can also sign up to receive email updates and never miss a post again.

If you are like me and you are growing more and more dissatisfied with both parties in Washington and think it is time for a change please visit The New Federalist Party’s page and check it out.

Earlier this week my youngest son turned 18 which means that technically I am the father of two adult children and that is making me feel pretty old right about now.

But hey, it is not about me, here is Alice Cooper performing I’m Eighteen. Enjoy:

    Hey Steve,
Along with my girlfriend and some others I saw Alice in concert in the summer of 1973 at the now long gone Roosevelt stadium in Jersey City… Feel any younger?

Thanks Peter, I do feel younger now. I was only seven in 1973. Sorry.

Here’s one: we saw the Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden, Thanksgiving evening, 1969, $11.00 a seat. That’s $11.00 not $1100.00.

Now that was a bargain! My first concert was Ozzy and Motley Crue back in the mid ’80s and the tickets were something like $15-$25, times sure have changed!

        $15-$25, that’s concert parking …or a pizza.

Parking for a red Sox game in Boston is $40, I felt like I got a deal when I took my some to the Bruins game last week because parking only cost $26.

You know, I remember being 18 in 1972, vaguely! Fresh out of highschool and starting college, working in an office between classes on campus and working a night shift at a place that made small motors for things like blenders. I did the shimming of washers for just the right amount of “play”, it was piece work rate, haha! I was fast, that is how I paid for my classes. I was one of two females who worked that shift, but I managed, there were no harrassment charges even thought about, unlike today. I imagine I slept sometime, but cannot remember when. I did not expect the government to give me anything, but that has sure changed. Things were sure different, gas lower in price and I felt like there was a future….what do these kids think now days? I just do not know.
