Obamacare: Millions of Americans with healthcare insurance are going to be forced to change plans

May 29, 2013

Remember when Barack Obama made the claim that if a person liked his or her healthcare insurance they would be unaffected by the new law because they would be able to keep their insurance?

Most of us knew from the beginning that this was not true and as healthcare premiums continue to rise–because Obamacare never addressed the issue of cost–many people have already lost the insurance they had at the time Obamacare was signed into law as companies look to save money by changing the plans they offer to their employees.

But the hits keep on coming. According to this article millions of Americans who have healthcare insurance are going to find themselves in violation of the healthcare law at the end of the year because the government does not deem their plan Obamacare-worthy.

State insurance regulators say many people who buy their own health insurance could get surprises this fall: cancellation notices because their policies aren’t up to the basic standards of President Barack Obama’s overhaul.

These people, and some small businesses, will have to find replacement plans _ and that has some state officials worried about consumer confusion.

The changes don’t seem to square with one of the president’s promises: “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan.”

And guess what? It doesn’t even matter if you like your plan, and it doesn’t matter if it suits your needs perfectly. And worse yet, it doesn’t even matter if the plan you have is the best plan you can afford. If your plan is deemed to be in violation of the law you will be forced to buy a new plan and it goes without saying that this plan will be more expensive than your current plan.

This will drive people into the healthcare exchanges–which was the goal all along–or force people to face Barack Obama’s gestapo, otherwise known as the IRS. And we now know how fair that government agency  is, don’t we?

One size does not fit all. But, what the hell just keep hammering that square peg into that round hole. Whoever described ObamaCare as a train wreck was right on the money.

The person who described it as a train wreck was actually Max Baucus and he is the person who is credited with writing the legislation. Now that the damage is done he is retiring.

Yes we have been fed a myth that our health care system was broken and needed to be fixed and this what we got. It was “broken” because of government regulation and workers demanding items that do not belong in health insurance. Apparently obamacare was only the first step towards total governmenal control of our health care and our lives.

In a recent column in Forbes Magazine Scott W. Atlas, M.D., wrote “The unspoken truth is that Congressional Democrats fully anticipate the failure of ObamaCare and want to re-introduce a single payer, government-controlled health care system… John Conyers (D-Mich.) unabashedly stated the Democrats’ end-game: “Improved and Expanded Medicare for All is inevitable in America– it is just a matter of when it will happen.”

I remember when healthcare first came up during the 08 election, I didn’t think anything was going to come of it because it really wasn’t a pressing issue at the time. Then suddenly Obama makes it priority number one and now we know why. He wanted to get government control over this section of the economy.

“Obamacare Is Driving Some Doctors To Stop Taking Insurance Altogether” is the title of this article and is worth reading and thinking about. For those who do not want big brother in their lives it may be feasible to drop medical insurance and have only major medical insurance plus a doctor who does not take insurance. Additionally there is a move by some medical centers to post the price of surgeries.

If this becomes a trend we can expect to see legislation banning doctors from not taking insurance.

FYI- The AHCA (Obamacare) Nazis have changed the language: exchanges are now referred to as “The Marketplace, a term which they claim more closely reflects what the exchanges represent. Employers must serve notice about “The Marketplace” (exchanges) to all new employees upon hiring and existing employees by October 1st, 2013. ..Let the games begin.

Remember, Bawney Frank even said this was the plan. Single payer.

Obamacare was/is a means to an end. Train wreck is too kind of a description for what is currently taking place and coming in the future.

Yep Larry, the plan is all coming together. As bad as it is right now, this is as good as it gets.

If the exchanges don’t pan out, I don’t see how obamacare moves forward. The house will never pass single payer IMO.

I like to think they won’t but as the situation deteriorates and people start demanding single payer I wonder if they will succumb to the pressure.

Obamacare was crafted to be a train wreck. It is specifically designed to create a health care crisis so that politicians can sweep in an tweek it driving everyone into a single payer system. The Democrats didn’t hide their intention in regards to Obamacare and it being a pathway to a single payer system.

Here is an analysis of the recent California “Marketplace” Exchange. Apparently Obamacare mixes catastrophic and medical insurance into one collective term health care. A catastrophic plan does not give an individual any ability to access a doctor or hospital for non catastrophic events. If you are young and single all of these insurance plans are to expensive. A medical savings account may make more sense. But the governmental will force you to pay for insurance or a fine.

Selling catastrophic plans to young pepole is a gold mine for insurance companies.

Thanks for the link. The first sentence in that article states that a “flaw” in Obamacare is going to drive insurance costs sky high, but I do not think that is a flaw at all. I think that was the goal all along.

This has to end bad. The democrats are the left pretty much to a man. They are goal oriented and focused. The republicans are unfocused, ambivalent and scared; they are to save us from Obama and Obamacare, don’t believe it. With one finger in the air and one up their ass they will turn on their own yet follow an untethered, unqualufied, misdirected ego-maniac like John McCain. Imagine, he was the best the GOP had to offer in 2008, followed by the author of the disastrous Romneycare in 2012? Not to worry, Chris Christie, NJ’s rhino governor ( not a typo) will keep the conga line of non-qualified republican candidates going. If history has taught us anything we will have Hillary in 2016 and Chelsea in 2024. So by then Bill and Hill will have proved you don’t need nine children to be the next Kennedy clan.

If the Republicans were serious about ending Obamacare they would defund it but they won’t do it because they are merely putting on a front and most conservative voters seem to be buying into their faux effort to dismantle Obamacare.
