Obamacare: Local governments cutting worker hours to avoid the Affordable Healthcare Act

June 19, 2013

As I have written several times in the past on America’s Watchtower there is a trend emerging as Obamacare goes into effect: In addition to downsizing their companies many employers are also cutting employee hours in order to avoid the healthcare law.

Those whom support Obamacare defend the law by blaming greedy corporations and capitalists for attempting to skirt the law by intentionally harming their workers in order to make a political point. In doing so these people willfully ignore the fact that these companies legitimately have to turn a profit in order to stay in business (and keep employing others) and Obamacare makes it increasingly more difficult to do so.

One has to wonder how these defenders of Obamacare feel about this news that local governments are using the same tactic in order to avoid the additional Obamacare costs.

Yet while private companies are getting all this unwelcome and hostile attention, local governments across the country have been quietly doing exactly the same thing — cutting part-time hours specifically so they can skirt ObamaCare’s costly employer mandate

Even though we all will end up sacrificing for this mess, I’m hoping it blows up full force, to the point where the government has to recall it, or at the very least delay it. Obamacare has only 1 way for it to survive, and that’s by taxing us more for it. Which simply moves the burden from the back end of it, increased health premiums, to the front end with more revenue from taxes. I see this with only 1 ending, total and complete failure. The republicans have given up much of their core monikers value, but I know they won’t budge an inch when obama says they need more revenue to support this bastard program.

I don’t know sonny, the Republicans hold the purse strings now, and if the continuing resolution was any indicator, they are willing and able to keep this monster alive.

rj, The replublicans just voted to repeal it again. If there were to turn around and vote more money for it, that would be their last term I think..

Yeah, the Republicans in the House have voted to repeal Obamacare several times now but they know it will never even make it to the senate. If they were serious about repealing Obamacare they would defund it but they keep taking these votes to make it look like they are doing something when really they are not.

It’s tough to tell whether this was by design of the Democrats behind Obamacare or another unintended consequence.

Here’s the solution: raise the minimum wage to $50.00 per hour so that all employees can afford health care costs on an individual basis, with the caveats that all companies, large or small must have a minimum work force predetermined by the US Dept of Labor, employees must be paid for a minimum of 29 hours per week with the government subsidizing the employer who cannot afford the labor costs and nationalizing all company’s accepting this government stipend. Then we will have a workers’ paradise. What the hell, with ideas like this I should run for public office.

Something else to keep in mind here is that all the part time employees ARE still required under federal law to purchase health insurance or face huge penalties. And now they have to pay for it all themselves while having their income cut at the same time. Ahhh, what liberalism hath wrought.

Exactly and this was part of the plan all along, force people into the exchanges to grow support of a total government takeover and a single payer system.

Yes, local governments are cutting some workers hours, but what is the alternative raising property taxes? Local governments were hard hit by the housing bubble pop and most have not recovered. Some responsible local governments have always tried to balance employee health insurance increases against property tax increases. However, I think a lot of these local governments are school boards. And because the public has been sold a bill of goods by teacher’s unions we won’t hear the end of their crocodile tears.

New creative staffing methods need to be explored and excessive administration needs to be cut. Return the schools to the local community, allow vochers. End the education plantation system.

The alternative is to get rid of this disastrous law!

Yes that is the ultimate goal. However in the meantime FY13-14 budgets need to be adopted by Oct. 1, so the budget process is well underway. If the 2014 does not produce a Congress that is anti Obama care, the chances of repeal become more and more difficult.
