Does the immigration reform bill incentivize companies to fire Americans and hire immigrants?

June 24, 2013

Does the immigration reform bill incentivize companies to fire American workers and hire newly amnestied immigrant workers?

Because the immigration reform bill states that amnestied immigrants will not be eligible for Obamacare that is the claim being made in this article:

Beginning in January, businesses with 50 or more full-time employees, that do not currently offer healthcare benefits that are considered “acceptable” by the Obama administration, must pay a penalty if at least one of their workers obtains insurance on a new government-run “exchange.” The penalty can be as much as $3,000 per employee.

Many employers have been preparing to cope with the new regulations by slashing the hours of full-timers to part-time status. Since “full-time,” in the language of ObamaCare, is averaging 30 hours per week, employers will, in general, receive the penalty if they have 50 or more employees who are working an average of 30 hours per week.

If the immigration bill becomes law, many employers could receive incentives of hundreds of thousands of dollars to hire amnestied immigrants over American citizens. In addition, these newly legalized immigrants could work “full-time,” an advantage for companies and businesses as well, while employers could lay off or diminish to “part-time” status, American workers.

Many Americans have had their hours cut as employers seek to avoid Obamacare costs, and because of this the Obamacare penalties have been shifted from the employers to the employees.  These employees–who now have less money coming in–will either have to find money for healthcare or face the wrath of the IRS come tax time.

As if this prospect was not bad enough many of these people may now face the prospect of losing their jobs altogether to people who came into the country illegally; now they will have no money coming in and still will be required to pay the fine while the newly legalized immigrants will be working full time and will not be faced with the same penalty as American citizens.

Of course the government’s solution to this problem–which they are in the process of creating–will be to give these immigrants healthcare benefits and make them eligible for Obamacare. And the Republicans will jump on board with this solution by claiming that while they do not want to do they have to support it in order to protect the American worker, when in reality the best protection would be not passing this bill in the first place.

Unbelievable! And the average voter hasn’t a clue as to what is coming. If the GOP passes this bill, I hope the voters will dump all of them.

If the GOP passes this bill it will be the end of them and they are too stupid to realize it.

Precisely the premise: cheap labor for the crony capitalists on both sides and votes on the left. If this phony “Immigration” bill becomes law Rubio, Ryan and the rest of their gang should crawl back into the hole they came out if.
Who will have the balls to deny food stamps, welfare, housing, health care to any of them? But wait it is a sure thing that any illegal working illegally off the books will pay their back taxes and penalty. When that happens Obama will blow himself in Macy’s window. And one thing for sure, not one of these republicans are embarrassed or apologetic for selling out the country.

Does anyone think that if an illegal aliens is already collecting welfare or food stamps while living in public housing that they are going to lose any of that? Do they really think we are this stupid?

It never ends does it. But of course we need to pass it first. Hand written amendments that few if any even have read it. That is the sad state of affairs.

What idiots increase the job pool of unskilled workers in an uncertain economey? Mexico is happy to get rid of its unskilled workers. Now they don’t have worry about these people demanding services and wanting reforms. Now its our problem. Look at Brazil, this is coming to a city near you.

Now that they are legal they will have to be paid at least minimum wage. They may not get OC but won’t they be eligible for other programs i.e unemployment, food stamps, medicare etc. And how can they be denied OC if they are paying taxes

Now that the bill is passed in the Senate we can find out what is in it and pressure our Representatives to not pass an immigration bill. Let’s fix what is already on the books. States like AZ need to be given the tools to help control illegal aliens.

It is time to Repeal the 17 Amendment. The Senate has too much power and is responding only to special interest groups. This experiment in democracy has not worked. The founding fathers were right in their intent for the Senate.

Yes, Mexico is unloading these people and certainly is willing to let us foot them bill for them. We are being sold down the river for political power and every single politician who votes for the needs to be fired.

Is Mexico different than any other country that dumps “undesirables” on us? Not really. We are the stupid ones that elect the VERY stupid ones that allow this to happen. Guess people are right when they say (I have no idea who “they” are) our IQ levels are dropping. Why else would we (present company excluded) be making these horrible decisions with who we put into office???

You are right Lou, it is not only Mexico which is dumping its citizens on us for us to take care of. This is a drain on our economy and we stand by and let it happen so can we really blame these countries for doing what they are doing?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIKRCov8Kj8&feature=player_embedded This is the latest from our favorite, Bill Whittle on Civility. After watching it, I will give my view on it. I have a sports car right now, a Mazda Miata to be exact, it is a 4 cylinder, but is still fast and corners wonderfully. I have had 1 ticket, I deserved, 1 ticket that I did not deserve, haha! Not bad for almost turning 60. I know that when pulled over, being civil works far better than going on the attack. I was also raised with a father that was a police office all his life, so guess I had it instilled in me to not be a smart-ass.
Now as to Bill talking about Chic-fil-a, the first time we were there was in Little Rock, Ark, when we were there in May for our #2 grandson’s birth. We took our older grandson there, I could not believe the service, cleanliness and how great the food was. I have heard it from others as well, wish we had one in Central Ill, but also understand why NO ONE would want to bring a business here. Good service goes a long way to people going back to a restaurant, civility, that is what is missing in so many people now.

The link did work in the first comment Lou, in the interest of being civil I will let it go this time. 🙂
Great stuff as usual from Bill Whittle and he really does hit on a great point. When I was in Missouri a few years ago for work I was stuck by the fact that as I walked down the street the people I passed always looked at me and said hi. Here in New England people rarely even look at you as they pass, never mind saying hi to you. It seems to me the country would be better off if people actually took the time to make a friendly gesture a little more often.

Here is what our neighbors to the north are doingtoatly ne

Canadian immigration policy has allowed Canada to attract individuals who are members of the economic class, investors, entrepreneurs and skilled workers. The number of refugees Canada accepts is a small percentage of total immigration numbers. As a result of Canada’s immigration policy, the unemployment rate amongst immigrants is significantly lower than among native Canadians.

This is what our immigration policies should be about. Instead we want to follow Norway and Sweeden

“Norway loses 4.1 million kroner ($713,740.30) for each non-western immigrant coming into the country and that immigration has cost 70 billion kroner ($12,185,810,000) in seven years. … the newspaper determined that the government spends 2 million kroner ($348,110) per newly arrived non-Western immigrant they get to work or study”

“The political and media elites import Third World peoples en masse. When they start acting like Third World peoples, the ruling elites are always surprised and point fingers at the (rapidly dwindling) white majority population for supposedly causing this with their alleged “racism and social discrimination.” Their solution is nearly always to give more money to those who cause riot and mayhem, paid for by law-abiding citizens.”

We are being robbed to pay for a social engineering project that is doomed to fail and destroy the fabric of our society. This country cannot assimilate this many people and maintain our social valuse. Our public schools have been neutered of western values and their importance to our liberties and freedoms.
