After screwing over New Hampshire in 2010 Sarah Palin opens the door for a third party
Sarah Palin recently made news when she said she was open to either creating or joining a third party if the Republicans continue to sell the American people out. This is what she had to say:
“if the GOP continues to back away from the planks in our platform, from the principles that built this party of Lincoln
and Reagan, then yeah, more and more of us are going to start saying, ‘You know, what’s wrong with being independent,’ kind of with that libertarian streak that much of us have. In other words, we want government to back off and not infringe upon our rights. I think there will be a lot of us who start saying ‘GOP, if you abandon us, we have nowhere else to go except to become more independent and not enlisted in a one or the other private majority parties that rule in our nation, either a Democrat or a Republican.’ Remember these are private parties, and you know, no one forces us to be enlisted in either party.”
With the Republican leadership being more concerned with their own personal interests and political power, and less concerned with serving their constituents I could not agree more with this sentiment. The Republicans are taking their base for granted because they feel as if the voters have nowhere else to turn and in the end they feel we will hold our noses and vote once again for the lesser of two evils.
But many voters, myself included, are sick and tired of holding their noses and voting for the lesser of two evils because in the end the two parties are really indiscernible on too many issues. This is why myself and several others have been working for six months to create a real alternative called the New Federalist Party and I would suggest that if you are fed up with Washington DC you check out what we have been up to.
However I have a deep seated resentment towards Sarah Palin and I have held this resentment since the elections of 2010, and now it is time for me to vent.
Earlier this week Sarah Palin stated that Marco Rubio and Kelly Ayotte should face a primary challenge when they come up for reelection. Once again I agree with Sarah Palin on this issue but I cannot help but think back to the 2010 election when I hear her make this statement.
Back in 2010 Kelly Ayotte was running for the Senate and she suddenly faced serious opposition when a little known candidate named Ovide Lamontagne surged in the final weeks of the primary campaign. With little money and few commercials Ovide Lamontagne gained the support of the conservative and Tea Party groups in New Hampshire and closed the gap on Kelly Ayotte.
This was particularly exciting for me for I was on the Ovide bandwagon from the beginning and America’s Watchtower endorsed him early on in the race. Kelly Ayotte was what would be considered the establishment Republican candidate while Ovide Lamontagne was the outsider and needless to say the elitist Republican leadership rushed to endorse the establishment candidate over the outsider.
Sarah Palin was one of those who decided to endorsed Kelly Ayotte, calling her a “Granite State Mama Grizzly:”
“It’s my honor to endorse a Granite State “mama grizzly” who has broken barriers, fought off and locked up criminals, and battled all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect the rights of New Hampshire parents – and won,” Palin wrote.
“New Hampshire is lucky to have Kelly Ayotte as a candidate for the U.S. Senate this year.”
In my opinion she did this for two reasons and two reasons only: One; because Kelly Ayotte was the establishment candidate, and two; because Kelly Ayotte was a woman. In a close race which was decided by about 1,600 votes it seems to me that Sarah Palin’s endorsement probably pushed Kelly Ayotte over the finish line.
The race was so close that Ovide Lamontagne could have called for a recount under state law, but instead he conceded the race with the following statement, which in my mind proved to me he was the candidate who should have won:
I believe that in our American republic, the people are the sovereign. That means the people are the king, and we are their subjects” Lamontagne said. “Well, the people of Hew Hampshire have spoken and they have ruled. While I’m disappointed with the result, I humbly accept their verdict
While I am glad that Sarah Palin belatedly realized that the GOP establishment is part of the problem I just wish she had realized it before he stuck her nose into a race she knew little to nothing about in the first place, if she had there would be no need to talk about a primary challenge to Kelly Ayotte.

Great article, Steve. That’s a great quote from Mr. Lamontagne, he sounds like someone for whom I would vote. Is he still interested in being an elected official?

Thanks Laura. Ovide was actually the GOP nominee for governor of New Hampshire in 2012 but he lost when the state went blue again. Needless to say I supported him again in this race but he came up short. He is continuing to fight for conservative values in the state but there is no word yet as to whether or not he will run for office again. He is a stand up man whom I trust and will support in whatever he decides to do in the future.

Sarah Palin and Allen West have been my top favorites for some time now.
That said, I am disappointed with Sarah’s endorsement of Ayotte, but I am equally as disappointed with Allen West for his asserting to a Cold Case Posse investigator in Florida recently that though he believed Obama was ineligible and that some of Obama’s documents are obviously fraudulent, West didn’t want to address the matter since he was planning to run for office again.
This is the sort of infuriating conundrum with which we patriots must continually contend. I simply don’t know what the answer is anymore. In the end, it’s always a case of voting for the lesser of two evils, I guess. Not very reassuring, but there it is.

I also like West and I agree with quite a bit of what Palin says but I am still upset she supported Ayotte in 2010 without knowing the facts.
The answer is the New Federalist Party, please check out what we are up to!

I checked it out, Steve. A good start. Of course, am not enamored of the name since the original Federalists supported a powerful Hamiltonian national government. Perhaps “New” has softened my view. But, hey, it’s a start in the right direction.

j,
Federalist referring to the true meaning of federalism: dual supremacy; division of powers between federal and state government; federal laws supreme ONLY when pertaining to the federal government’s very specifically enumerated, narrow, and limited duties and powers; state laws supreme in EVERYTHING else.
I know people are kind of leery because they think it refers to the original Federalist Party.

Thanks for checking it out and you are not alone, we have been told the name of the party is off-putting for the same reason. Rest assured that we are not the party of Hamilton or what he represented. We are the party of the original federalist ideal as put forth in the constitution, the one the Federalist Papers outlined. While Hamilton wrote most of the Federalist Papers in ensure the people the national government would not be too powerful he abandoned this notion once he gained power, it is for this reason that Hamilton is my least favorite founding father. We are looking to return America to its original constitutional founding.

Looks like Laura beat me to it! She is also a founding member of the party and she nailed what we are trying to accomplish.

I took a look at your platform. Looks good. Unless I missed it I was thinking that maybe you could also clarify our 14th Amendment as to who is and is not a citizen of the United States.

Thanks for taking a look, articles XIII, XIV, and XV deal with immigration but you are right, we have not directly address the 14th amendment.

I have NEVER been a Palin fan, I doubt I ever will be… Sure, she turns a good phrase once in a while but she strikes me as being a *scatter brain* at times, well, most times..

TF,
Seems to me you’ve allowed the MSM to define her for you. There’s much depth and principle under that beautiful veneer. Don’t fall for the MSM deception.

I am not a huge Palin fan either although I agree with allot of what she says. I don’t think that she comes off well when she speaks and I am certain I am not letting the MSM define her for me because I do not watch the MSM. I think she plays an important roll but if she ever were to be the Republican nominee I think she would be soundly defeated.

While Palin, not unlike Chris Cheistie’s brusque approach that masks or diverts attention from his true beliefs and intentions, talks a good rah rah game she is full of herself and a ripe candidate for ” power corrupts and absolute power ………….

Wow! I must be easily duped and not all that perceptive. I just don’t see that at all. The MSM has done a remarkable job defining her. Sad.

I think she does a great job in rallying the troops and that is the perfect role for her, but if she ever runs for national office she will be obliterated, fair or not. As you can tell from my post I am still pissed off at her for endorsing Ayotte over the true conservative in New Hampshire.

She might well be soundly defeated, but ONLY because she has been so well-defined by the numbnuts on the left. To some extent, It does rub off, I’m afraid.

Palin needs to run for the US Senate if she is to improve her political standing. Run as as an independent. Get away from the Rep. Party. Don’t accept any special interest money. Run a grassroots campaign. Go door to door.

100% agree, Chris. And, for Palin, such a political strategy fits her like a charm.
