Democrat Luis Gutierrez calls for a House hearing on the Zimmerman verdict

July 16, 2013

More and more politicians are beginning to speak out against the Zimmerman verdict, sticking their noses in where they do not belong and further inflaming the public and stoking the flames of racial tension in the nation, all the while providing what the rioters see as justification for the increase in violence. (Which the politicians are ignoring.)

If truth be told these politicians do not give a damn about the life or the death of Trayvon Martin, all they see is a high profile case which the likes of Eric Holder has called an “opportunity” the government should not let pass:

I believe that this tragedy provides yet another opportunity for our nation to speak honestly about the complicated and emotionally-charged issues that this case has raised.  We must not – as we have too often in the past – let this opportunity pass

An interesting choice of words, don’t you think? Of course he is talking about exploiting the death of this young man to push his anti-second amendment agenda, because that is all he is really concerned about.

But Eric Holder is not alone and today, not willing to accept the fact that George Zimmerman was acquitted by a jury of his peers,  Democratic Representative Luis Gutierrez has called for a House investigation into the shooting of Trayvon Martin.

His statement is so full of misnomers and untruths that I feel compelled to break it down piece by piece. Here is what he had to say in calling for an investigation:

When any child is gunned down and no one goes to jail, it is incumbent on lawmakers at the highest level of government to investigate whether justice has been done, whether the underlying law is just, and whether federal legislation could help avoid another tragic death like the death of Trayvon Martin

The left continues to characterize Trayvon Martin as a child when he was not a child. He was 17 years old, not an adult by any standards but not a child either, he was a young man. The difference between being a child and being a young man may be negligible to many people but the word ‘child’ implies that Trayvon Martin was much younger than he really was and this is being perpetrated on purpose to further the leftist agenda.

During the time frame that the George Zimmerman trial was ongoing four children (using the left’s definition of a child) were murdered in Chicago alone. These people were 5, (a true child) 14, 15, and 16 years old and yet there is not one mention of these murders by the gun grabbers on the left or by the mainstream media. If Gutierrez was truly worried about children being gunned down and nobody being held responsible wouldn’t he have at least referenced these killings?  Why didn’t he then? I will let you be the judge of that.

He continues by claiming this case undermines the peoples’ trust in law enforcement:

Even as crime has gone down across the nation, fear of crime, fear of violence, and fear of fellow Americans seems to be ever increasing

He admits that violent crime is on the decrease in the nation, but justifies his  stance by saying it does not feel as if this is the case. This is typical mind think for those on the left–ignore the facts and legislate by feelings alone.

He even made this into an issue of illegal immigration:

The Judiciary Committee recently passed legislation you co-authored to drive an even greater wedge between local police and the communities they serve by turning all police into immigration enforcement officers and criminalizing millions of immigrants and their families

Now that is a stretch to say the least, and did you notice he claimed proponents of stopping illegal immigration were actually criminalizing legal immigrants? That is not the case at all, those who entered the country illegally criminalized themselves but Gutierrez draws no distinction between legal and illegal immigrants.

But then he finally gets to the heart of the matter:

I note with great sadness that Mr. Martin was just one of hundreds and hundreds of children we have lost to guns

Gun control, that is what is the heart of his proposed Congressional hearing and he bares his soul in the next part of his statement:

There is no reason in a modern society to accept the sale, marketing, and widespread proliferation of guns as a means for killing other human beings and our laws should reflect that fact

He sees no reason why in today’s America we should allow people to sell (and by this he means also buy) weapons, he obviously has no understanding of the second amendment, or has deep resentment towards the second amendment, and is all too willing to exploit the death of Trayvon Martin to push his radical, anti-constitutional beliefs on the law abiding citizens of the United States.

Eric Holder said is best when he called Trayvon Martin’s death an opportunity because that is exactly what the statists see this as: this is nothing but another crisis which the left does not intend to let pass without putting to good use.

Trayvon Martin’s loss is the left’s gain and I find the left’s opportunism disguised as compassion, as well as the non-acceptance for the ruling in a court of law, to be disgusting to say the least!

What happened to Benghazigate, Fast & Furious, et. al. scandals? Thankfully, IRS and NSA are still front and center, but for how long. Sickening. The more I see and understand, the more appreciate our founders’ realization that, man being the corruptible being he is, this Republic is anything but perpetual. For me, it no longer serves the interest of republicanism and traditional values. Short of a miracle, it can no longer be fully repaired. Frankly, I think it may be time for a parting of ways. At least constitutional governance and traditional values can be adhered to in at least a portion of the former “indivisible” union which, for me, no longer serves its republican purpose.

By the way, that’s pretty much the thrust of my book, just published, entitled “A Patriot’s Call to Action”. Available online Barnes & Noble, Amazon and Xlibris. That wasn’t meant to be a brazen, shameless plug, but there it is. Hope you folks check it out. In the book, I don’t pussy-foot and carefully draw heavily on the wisdom of our drafters and ratifiers of our Constitution to reach my sobering conclusions. Anyway………………

“There is no reason in a modern society to accept the sale, marketing, and widespread proliferation of guns as a means for killing other human beings and our laws should reflect that fact”

Um….our laws do reflect the fact that our society doesn’t accept marketing and selling guns as a means of killing other human beings. Our society accepts and promotes (rightly so) selling, buying, and owning guns for sport, to hunt, for self defense, and for ‘being necessary to the security of a free State.’ The other ways guns are used – in the commission of a crime – are already against the law.

Great point Laura, to hear him speak you would think that there are no laws on the books against killing people. He neglects they fact that people have a right to defend themselves.

Eric Holder is a racist. He believes all white people are racist. He and other race baiters pray for race riots to prove their point. These are sick people, Steve. I read a piece today that referenced the so-called DHS Insider, who claims there are plans to precipiate wide-spread race riots by faking an attemp on Obama’s life. I don’t want to believe they would stoop so low, but this Chicago crowd is capable of doing anything to meet their ends.

Cheap entertainment at our expense, Jim! They are always one step ahead with some new scandal they can drum up, to cover for the previous one. At what point do they either run out of scandals, OR the American people wake up and start calling “foul”? We, here, are not stupid, what is the magic tipping point that they will have to stop this shit? You all have no idea what the Chicago group is able to pull off until you live here with it for years.

You would think they would run out of options at some point, nut they always seem to be one step ahead. I think they people are beginning to get tired of this and are starting to realize what Obama is about, at least I hope so. If this doesn’t do it nothing will.

There is no doubt that Holder, and I would say Barack and Michelle, are racists and they harbor this chip on their shoulders for some perceived wrong against them. I would say this country has been very generous towards them there entire lives but they do not see it that way.
I had read that story also Jim and while I like to think they wouldn’t stoop that low I would not put anything passed them.

You know, Steve, that “chip” on the shoulder could be used by any Irishman, Italian, German, etc. that came to this country years ago. Those where our grandparents and great-grandparents. They had a long road to travel and were looked down upon for years. They worked hard, went thru the proper channels and most made a good living, eventually, by working, not by being on the dole and making demands.
At what point is it far enough in the past that people like the Obamas, Jacksons, Sharptons and Holders leave it in the past. I do NOT see any of them suffering, in fact, they have plenty of money, made on the backs of hard working citizens. The more they stir the pot, the more race relations will suffer. So much for electing the first Black President, where are the “feel gooders” now? The Obamas are living a charmed life, can we say the same about our lives, right now?

This is more than gun control. The left wants to render the jury system invalid and thus the constitution is also invalid. One of the attorneys for the Martin family is to social engineer the results of a case. They want to subject certain cases to trial by public opinion. They want a return to mob rule. A Neo-Jim Crow America. We are witnessing the demise of the US.

OB is a total disgrace. He wants the civil unrest that is occurring.

Yeah, I think you are right and we are seeing this play out in front of our eyes. The Feds are not going to accept the results of a trial by jury, they want to become the judge and jury and we should be very afraid of that prospect.

Chris, WE see what Obama is doing, but others choose not to. I watched the exchange of Greta Van Susteren and Jasmine Rand the other day, Jasmine is too smart for her own good. There is being smart and then there is being smart and making sure that everyone else knows it…she fits the later bill. It was a very bad move to try and go up against Greta, she still believes in the law and the Constitution. She had no trouble putting Ms. Rand in her place. Everything Ms. Rand believes has a racial/progressive undertone and that is deadly. Social Engineering, indeed. I see the media gearing up to go after the jurors on the Martin/Zimmerman case. I know they said that the names would be kept under wraps, but we also know when the time is right, those names will slip. If anything happens to those women, how many people do you think will EVER want to serve on a jury after that? This will be just one more way that the government will control us, with fear. They went after the Whistleblowers and now I see this coming as well. What person in their right mind would want to serve on a jury if this is the outcome? I am really getting sick of this Administration

As to your comment, Honey Boo Boo has about the same IQ level as the lofo voters, so of course her opinion matters. I will give her mother credit, she puts away all the money from the show into funds for college, at least that is what I heard, so guess the show has some redeeming value to it, in that sense.

Right Steve your right the six jurors need to be very concerned for their and their families safety and lives. Remember Seal Team Six was outed by Biden and some of them were sent on a mission where their security was compromised and they were killed. I doubt these jurors will be able have a normal life especially if they are not allowed to defend themselves.

I don’t think we ought to let this opportunity to pass to do what the constitution calls for when Feds over step their grounds into an individual states or personal lives unwarranted. What is the purpose of the second admendment, and I agree as a last resort but they been ask time and time again to get in line, now is the time to remove them by whatever constitutional means are legally avaialable to us as their BOSSES!
