Keith Ellison: “There’s plenty of money, it’s just the government doesn’t have it”
While talking about the ‘Inclusive Prosperity Act’ (the name alone sends shivers down my spine and sounds like it came straight from Atlas Shrugged) Representative Keith Ellison said the following:
The bottom line is we’re not broke, there’s plenty of money, it’s just the government doesn’t have it
What he meant by this was; the government doesn’t have it…..yet. He clarified that point next:
“The government has a right, the government and the people of the United States have a right to run the programs of the United States. Health, welfare, housing – all these things”
Notice how he started to say the ‘government’ has the right before switching it to the ‘government and the people’ have a right? He caught himself revealing how he (and most of the ruling class) really felt and quickly corrected himself–it was too late, however.
This one clip shows us exactly what is wrong in Washington DC. The ruling class elite believe the Constitution grants the government rights and because of this we have a duty and an obligation (he uses those words as the clip continues, you can check it out by following the link above) to fund whatever the government feels should be funded.
He, and the others like him, lament the fact that there is money out there that the government cannot get its greedy little hands on and he intends to do something about it. The Democrats seem to have this mentality that all money should flow into the government to be dispersed to the people as they see fit, and we are not trustworthy enough to spend our money properly therefore they will spend it for us.
This, of course, is a denial by Mr. Ellison that there is any spending problem in Washington and with this type of attitude pervasive on the Democratic side of the aisle it will be impossible to ever get the situation under control. According to people like Mr. Ellison there is no problem that cannot be solved with a confiscation of more funds.

Well, we created these monsters by putting them into office. WE have to remove them, that is the bottom line. Does this mean that WE are our own worst enemy? I do see them letting their guard down a bit at a time and the truth is slipping out. Do you think others are paying attention to this?

They really are emboldened and because of it they will slip up from time to time. Sadly, no I do not think many people saw this slip-up, and if they did they probably didn’t care.

lou222, it is only a slip if it is reported, and the left wing MSM will make sure nothing gets out that will hurt their cause. Animal Farm showed us how this will proceed, which is to say things will get much, much worse before they get better. And even then, it won’t be the same America I knew as a kid.

I am afraid you are right Bruce, we have been going down this road for so long it is hard to envision a scenario where we will ever see America the same as it was when we were children.

I hear what you are saying about the MSM, Bruce, but at least WE can put the word out. There are some of us that know what is going on and are hell bent on spreading it. As to seeing the American we knew as kids, that is long gone. As they say “you can never go back” and that is more true today than it has ever been.

At the risk of over-inflating our influence, we are all that we have left in spreading the word. The MSM isn’t going to do it so it is up to the people to do it. It will be a slow process but I think it is working.

MM, you have not cornered the market on Loons…here in Illinois, my personal favorites are, Bobby Rush, Luis Gutierrez, Jan Schakowsky and good old Dick Durbin. I just do not think there is any where to run to other than maybe out in the Northwest plains (Dakotas and Montana). Trade bad winter weather for bad representatives/senators…good trade in my book.

Come to New Hampshire, we bounce back and forth between which side is running the state so at least it is good half the time. 🙂

It still amazes me that there are so many people that pay absolutely no attention to what is going on politically, but will still go into that voting booth and vote as they always have…don’t they realize that things have changed and not for the better!?! Maybe there should be a “Voting 101” class that needs to be passed to see if you are even intelligent enough to make a decision like that. If that is too strong, then, at the very least, they should know WHO is running and WHAT they are backing. I don’t know how many people I run into and ask during voting who they are voting for and why and they don’t have a clue, but still do their civic duty to vote…makes no sense. Maybe that is the reason we are in such dire straits, uninformed voters???

Many people are just voting themselves entitlements, they have been bought off and to them everything is wonderful in the country. We can never get these voters back.
Then there is the uninformed who just go to the polls without paying attention to politics. These people might be more dangerous than the first group because at least the first group knows what they are voting for.
I think there is one last group of people who don’t follow politics closely and that is the people who are just working too damn hard to make ends meet. If we can convince this group that they reason they are struggling is because of Obama then maybe we can get somewhere. The first two groups are lost causes.

Steve, a memory of 7th grader is that we were told that the fall of the Roman Empire was due to “free bread and circuses”. I couldn’t figure out what that meant, but I wrote it in the answer line on the test and got it right.
Now, 48 years later, I know EXACTLY what it meant. As you said, “they have been bought off and to them everything is wonderful”.

Yeah, everything is fine to those who are only taking and not contributing. I guess we really cannot blame them for taking advantage of the system given to them.

Right you are. Every now and then a slip comes through. Or is it a subtle method of desensitizing us? Now that we have the “nudge” program in place I trust no one.

I don’t trust them either, I have said it many times in the past; nothing happens with this regime that isn’t planned so who knows maybe they will starting throwing out comments like this more and more often in an attempt to desensitize us. I hadn’t thought about it that way.

I quoted your post on ObamaCare and disabled kids, and I noted that Democrats think that all money belongs to them, and keeping any is cheating the system. Here, Ellison goes and proves it for me.

Thanks Matt and I think you nailed it. They feel as if the money belongs to them and if we want to keep what we earn we are the greedy ones. The mindset that the money belongs to the government shows us they are the greedy ones.

Good grief! And we wonder why our country is in such terrible shape? With people like Keith Ellison in our government, it’s no surprise. The sad part about this is, he probably really believes our money belongs to the government.

I think he does believe that Larry, and I think there are many in the Congress who feel this way. And sadly they are able to convince enough Americans to win elections.

Come to NJ where property taxes will cause even the money grabbers in DC to blush. For example Essex County, home to the Newark school district with a cost of around $15,000 not to educate a child, you could almost buy a new car with the individual home owner’s annual property tax bill.

You would think that the high taxes chasing people out of a state would send up a red flag to the officials there, wouldn’t you? We are being taxed to death here in Illinois and the outflow of people moving is getting pretty noticeable, but still they do it. It is the Democratic machine we have over in our State House. Caterpillar has threatened to move from Peoria and if they do, this state is done. We are such a welfare state now that the inflow of illegals (YES I SAID ILLEGALS) and the welfare queens flock to us. We take care of them very well, just tax us a bit more on something, so they can have that extra Iphone and the link card always has fun money on it. I have told you that my husband and I are retired, but have rental properties, oh the things we hear and see would make you sick, the way that the welfare system is run here and abused.

You would think it would send up a red flag but their response always seems to be to raise taxes on those who remain. This of course drives even more people away and you have to think they realize this and do not care.
