The IRS is still targeting conservative groups

August 8, 2013

Well, I wanted to take a couple of days off in order to recharge the batteries but every time I try to take a step back I get sucked right back into the fray. They just keep coming at us and there is no way I could ignore this story.

David Camp, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman, released the testimony of an IRS agent and during his testimony he admitted nothing has changed in regards to the targeting of Conservative groups.

In a remarkable admission that is likely to rock the Internal Revenue Service again, testimony released Thursday by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp reveals that an agent involved in reviewing tax exempt applications from conservative groups told a committee investigator that the agency is still targeting Tea Party groups, three months after the IRS scandal erupted..

In closed door testimony before the House Ways & Means Committee, the unidentified IRS agent said requests for special tax status from Tea Party groups is being forced into a special “secondary screening” because the agency has yet to come up with new guidance on how to judge the tax status of the groups.

Three months ago the IRS admitted to, and apologized for, inappropriately targeting conservative groups before the 2012 election, yet the agency was so concerned about its image and its reputation that the same policy is in place to this day. The IRS hasn’t decided how to handle these applications and so the status quo remains in effect, is anyone taking bets that this will be resolved before the 2014 mid-term election? I am not!

Can somebody please explain to me what good an apology is if the behavior has not changed? Actions speak louder than words and in this case we can clearly see that the IRS has no intention of changing its behavior any time soon.

You are going to have to put on blinders and ear plugs, Steve. 🙂

The arrogance of this administration and the IRS is beyonf belief. They actually thought no one would check to see if the practice had actually stopped. It is way passed the time for some heads to roll!

And I cannot do that so it looks like I am stuck. 🙂
Arrogance is the perfect word to describe this regime and the IRS, they simply do not care about what the American people think about what they are doing as long as it helps to forward the agenda.

Is this part of the new immigration plan – we need to learn Spanish? Oh good grief!

There will probably be a Spanish mandate in the immigration reform bill. 😉

Yes, in the coming years 2014 will become to be known as the “The time of the great foot dragging”, the prelude to the annointing of the first queen of the United States.

Why stop now? They just need to drag their feet into 2014 and adversely affect that election to. I suspect RINOs are in favor of such foot dragging.

Unfortunately most recent immigrants come from corrupt countries, so they have no problem with this behavior.

And then after 2014 they will continue to drag their feet, they are in no hurry to do anything about this. As for the RINOs, they don’t care either because they see the conservative groups as a threat and would rather they disappeared as well.

Steve, I found this info on my local representatives website “Chairman Issa also asked that presidential appointee William Wilkins and the IRS’ office of legal counsel he heads be restricted from participating in the IRS’ clearance process for Congressional committee requests regarding information related to the targeting of conservative organizations. Mr. Wilkins was implicated in the scandal after a recent hearing disclosed his significant involvement in the tax exempt application approval process” So BO through Wilkins is controlling the IRS.

I see no one holding them responsible from Congress or the House, other than the committee and the “handful” I usually speak of, Lee, Paul and Cruz. It is going so slow, at best. Couldn’t some of the others start speaking out on this? NO? Hmmm. I guess just a “sorry” is enough, where was the “I won’t do it again”?
I also read that Schumer and Gutierrez are both pleased and feel they have the votes from the Republicans for the Immigration reform. Does that piss anyone off here? It sure does me. We have the ability in the House to hold this off and yet, they are being bought and paid for to vote FOR the bill? What the heck is going on here?
Steve, guess there is no rest for the wicked, so you must fit that category with the rest of us. There is just so much going on, you sit out a day or two and miss so much. Might I suggest a shot of Bushmill’s?

I meant the SENATE or the House, not sure why I put Congress or the House, guess I was trying to get out what I wanted to say too quickly. However, I know you knew what I meant, anyway.

The Congress (I knew what you meant) has no interest in this because even the Republicans think the conservatives are a threat, that is why there has been no action.
As for immigration reform I am still holding out hope that these two Dems are simply trying to put on a good face on this as well as trying to apply pressure the the Republicans, but I will not be surprised if they cave.
      I’ll make mine a Captain Morgan’s.

Lou and Dennis, the thing that has me most upset about Rubio is that Cubans are usually the ones up in front of the “enforce the law” parade, especially on illegal immigration. They have a special status as political refugees: If they can set foot on US soil, they have sanctuary. That’s why there’s a difference between a boat from Cuba landing in, say, Key West, and a boatload of refugees being caught by the Coast Guard in the Straits of Florida. So there is no such thing as an “illegal” Cuban inside the US. Why on earth would they even WANT to mess with the law that gives them such sanctuary? When they become citizens, they’re usually solid Republican voters. Rubio is such a disappointment.

The GOP is now of the mindset that in order to win they have to become more like the Democrats. Don’t they understand this will push even more of the base away from them? They have not learned any of the proper lessons from 2008 and 2012 and at this point they deserve to lose.

Yes they did, the only thing we can do is vote them out, but at this point I see conservatives staying home as they did in 2012 and I see that leading to Democrat control of the House.

re: “And we use the term “leader” loosely”

No… the Bamster is leading. The problem is that he’s from the Al Capone School of Politics.

Remember that Al Capone was never successfully prosecuted for any of the crimes he was responsible for. The reason was that all he had to do was complain, “Gee… I wish Joe Shmoe wasn’t such a pest…” and his operatives made the “Joe Shmoe Problem” go away. There was never any evidence that Capone did anything, and his operatives protected him from the law. Al Capone was finally nabbed for evading taxes when he was so obviously living above his visible means.

Then the gangsters in Chicago “went legit” and took over the city politics. The Al Capone School of Politics is the reason the most corrupted political group in the country, the Daley Machine, has never been caught with a “smoking gun”. And the politicians learned another lesson from Capone… they make sure their taxes are properly paid.

Obama is from the Daley Machine of Chicago. There is no other way he could have gotten into the Senate from that city, never mind the White House. All he has to say is, “Gee… that TEA Party gang sure is getting to be a pest…” and his operatives take action. The operatives will never fold. It will be the innocent bystanders, the career IRS whistle-blowers, who will bring down the exact people who are giving orders, but it isn’t likely that they will ever be able to connect the dots to Obama himself. He LOOKS like he isn’t doing anything. But he’s probably making wistful suggestions, and his operatives are jumping to make it happen. That’s how the Chicago Daley Machine works.

For someone that was brought under the Chicago Way’s wing, Obama has done surprisingly well, don’t you think?

Hi Steve! Long time no see! Been super busy at work!

Lou… Nope, I live in Florida. But I’ve been long fascinated by gangsters (maybe I was a Moll in a previous life? LOL!) and how they melted back into the general population when their various gangs fell apart. Take the mob out in Vegas. They really DID “go legit”. A lot of them took over casinos, only to discover that they made much more money when they ran honest games. Once they had a reputation for being honest, the public confidence in them built and business started booming. Go figure! But there’s still an undercurrent that can be seen in Sen. Reid’s general foulness. :/

As for Chicago and the Capone gang, before I ever heard or saw Obama, I read the words “Chicago” and “Democrat” in the same sentence and said, “NO WAY!” I saw Chicago on the Potomac coming from miles away. In fact, I believe that the corruption is so bad in Chicago, I think Blago honestly did not KNOW that it was illegal to sell Obama’s senate seat. It was just the way he’d always seen things done. I have no clue how the people there can keep on voting for the people who have brought that once-great city down into the sewer. I mean… Rahm Emmanuel??? 😦

Mama, it is called “pay to play”. The votes are not there for the Democrats in “downstate”, however there is so much corruption in the Chicago area, they GET the votes. Anything south of Chicago is pretty conservative, but it never matters, the fix is in and they are not going to let loose of control. Go figure. As for Blago, I imagine you are right, he didn’t see anything wrong with what he did, guess he figured wrong this time. Jesse Jackson Jr. has the same problems, he just got caught, but they will smooth things over for him and he will sever minimal time, at best. Now I hear that Emmanuel is destined for the Governor position, there is no love lost between him and Quinn. He has done such a swell job in Chicago being mayor, that I KNOW he will be a good Governor. /s Anyway, glad to see your posts!

It is interesting to note that Obama was born and lived in Hawaii (we think) yet out of all the places he could have left paradise for he decided to move to Chicago to ply his trade. He, or whomever fronted him, knew exactly what they were doing!
