Peter King defends the NSA spying program and slams Rand Paul for questioning it

August 18, 2013

This weekend Republican Peter King took to Fox News and defended the NSA data-mining program while slamming Rand Paul for questioning the program:

“I totally disagree with what Sen. Rand Paul said,” King said. “That was just a grab bag of misinformation and distortion coming from him. The fact is John [Roberts], look at this

So John Roberts looked at this program, that means it is okay? This is the same John Roberts who changed his Obamacare vote at the last minute and ruled that law constitutional when I think most Americans understand it is not constitutional. This is the same John Roberts who may have been compromised by the very same NSA program he defended. The NSA program targeted one justice who now sits on the Supreme Court and I am of the belief that justice was John Roberts. So can he really be trusted at this point?

But the representative from New York continued:

take Rand Paul’s own numbers. He says there’s billions of phone calls being collected. It’s not even true, but let’s assume he’s being right for once — billions of phone calls being collected. You juxtapose that with 2,800 violations, which were self-reported by the NSA, which are not violating anybody’s rights. You’re talking about 1,900 being foreigners, and when they came to the U.S., their foreign mobile phone wasn’t immediately transferred over the way they were supposed to be. No Americans rights were violated with that. The others were records which were kept more than five years by accident, self-reported by the NSA.

Millions of phone calls have been data-mined every day over the course of years, can Rand Paul’s numbers really be that far off? As a defense of the NSA program Peter King uses the NSA’s own internal poll to state that there really weren’t that many violations when you look at how many people are being spied on. Naturally the NSA is going to downplay the violations when asked to investigate itself, this is not a legitimate investigation.

To me, a scandal is when a government agency is somehow using information to hurt people or go after them,” King continued. “Whatever mistakes were made were inadvertent. And if you have a 99.99 percent batting average, that’s better than most media people do, most politicians do. And I have a tremendous respect for Gen. [Keith] Alexander and the NSA. And this whole tone of snooping and spying that we use — I think it’s horrible. It’s a distortion, a smear and a slander of good patriotic Americans

No Mister King, what is a smear and a slander of good patriotic Americans is violating their fourth amendment rights by treating them as if they were common criminals and subjecting them to programs which were supposed to be designed to go after terrorists.

So why is Peter King defending the NSA while going after a person who is trying to expose this scandal? The answer is obvious: Peter King is on the Intelligence Committee, therefor he knew about the program all along and he did not, and still does not, have a problem with it.

In the end Peter King is part of the ruling class elite and he must be defeated in 2014. I may agree with Peter King on some issues but anyone who supports this program at the sacrifice of our constitutional rights is part of the problem and is unworthy to hold public office.

Not to blow my own horn Steve but more than once on your site I have slammed this two faced hypocrite for who and what he is, a stereotypical RINO who has doubled as a Janet Napolitano lapdog for the longest time. Just as former Senator R- NY, Al D’Amato all but handed his Senate seat on a silver platter to Chuck Schumer after making a public spectacle of himself while pursuing a women who was too much for him (nothing scandalous just embarrassingly amateur hour) so too will this washed up windbag favorite son of FOX News possibly perform the same political Hari-Kari.
If King loses the primary It will be close to impossible for a republican in NY state who could defeat any democrat who candidate. So much for a GOP majority in the senate.

King is in the House not the Senate. I get so pusses at the mere mention if this clod I lose my perspective. Still, he will lose a republican seat for no reason other than opening his mouth and showing his true colors enough so to turn off his constituents so much that if he is the candidate the republican voters may stay home.

No worries, it happens. 🙂 Republicans may lose this seat but what difference does it really make if we lose some Republicans who are really Democrats under cover?

How about we do away with all the political parties? Instead of R, D, L, NF ( 😉 ) after a rep’s name, we use T for tyranny and C for Constitution? AND the PEOPLE get to say which letter is used….. 🙂

I like it because in the end there are only two sides; you are either for the constitution or you are against it and I know which side NFP is on! 🙂
