John Kerry refuses to rule out putting boots on the ground in Syria

September 3, 2013

While trying to lobby for support for attacking Syria Barack Obama has assured the American people, and the Congress, that his plan calls for a limited air strike and will not include putting boots on the ground in Syria.

Secretary of State John Kerry has echoed these sentiments, going so far as to claim that lobbing missiles into a foreign sovereign nation would not be an act of war, claiming that war would necessarily include boots on the ground, of which the United States has no intention of doing. Firing missiles into a sovereign nation is not an act of war? Okay…..would he feel the same way if another nation lobbed missiles into the United States?

But for all of these assurances we have been given that the United States would not put boots on the ground, when John Kerry was provided the opportunity at the Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Relations hearing today to reassure the American people he refused to rule out the possibility:

“It would be preferable not to, not because there is any intention or any plan or any desire whatsoever to have boots on the ground,” Kerry said.

“But, in the event that Syria imploded, or in the event there was a threat of a chemical weapons cache falling into the hands of” someone who should not have chemical weapons, “then clearly in the interest of our allies … to prevent those weapons of mass destruction falling into the hands of the worst elements,” Kerry said later. “I don’t want to take that off the table an option that might or might not be available to the president of the United States

When pressed on this stance, which seems to be at odds with what the American people have been told by the Obama regime, John Kerry tried to backtrack by stating “there will not be American boots on the ground with respect to the civil war.”

He is clearly trying to draw a distinction here which simply does not exist. He is trying to make the case that American interests might make it necessary to put boots on the ground while saying, at the same time, that this does not mean boots will be on the ground for the purpose of interfering in the Syrian civil war.

But the truth is, in my opinion, that by lobbing missiles into Syria while a civil war is raging that the United States is already involving itself in the Syrian civil war regardless of whether the Obama regime is willing to admit it or not, and regardless of why the United States puts boots on the ground we will be doing so because of the civil war, no matter what the Obama regime’s justification is.

John Kerry is clearly playing a game of semantics here in regards to putting boots being on the ground and it matters not because the end result is the same. While the Obama regime might not want to put boots on the ground the possibility is still there, as John Kerry has made quite clear.

It appears as if John Kerry is laying the the groundwork for a more protracted campaign than the Obama regime is willing to admit to at this point.

Well then I say his boots should be the first on the ground in Syria.

It’s about Syria’s position on the map, and their ability to block or allow pipelines. All other issues are just distractions for public relations.

It’s a little complicated but please bear with me. Links to articles about this at the bottom. Most of the media are not giving this all that much attention.

    Two pipelines are being planned.

    (1)
    Pipeline route: Iran-Iraq-Syria-EU.
    Material: Crude Oil
    Benefits: Iran, Iraq, EU
Hurts: other oil exporters, like Saudi Arabia
Syria’s position: they are allowing it.
Timing: Iran, Iraq an Syrian oil ministers met late July and signed a memorandum of understanding that they all agree in principle to do this

    (2)
    Pipeline route: Saudi Arabia-Jordan-Syria-EU
    Material: Natural Gas
    Benefits: Saudi Arabia
Hurts: Russia (they currently dominate the EU natgas market)
Syria’s position: they are blocking it for their Russian allies.

That is interesting and I would not be surprised if this is what is really behind what is going on.

I too believe it is all about transporting oil and gas through Syria to service Europe.

That is probably part of it, but I think Obama is also taking advantage of this to push his anti-Israel and pro Muslim Brotherhood agenda.

Finally something that makes sense. Let’s pray to God that our soldiers don’t become the cannon fodder for Obama’s farce being played out in congress.

The Qataris, the Saudis, the Iranis, and the Russians all want to move oil and gas via pipelines through Syria to sell to Europe. Why can;t they fight it out and leave the US out of it? (FYI, there are other pipelines planned to pass through southern Pakistan to service India and others planned to move oil and gas to China.)

I think once they are given the “ok”, then whatever this Administration says it was not going to do, they will do and get away with it. We have been told things before that suddenly change once they get the vote they want, why would this be any different? We also know that once something is put in motion it is next to impossible to stop,(Obamacare)do we want to take that chance again? Oh, I forgot, our opinions do NOT matter, the Congress will do what they want. My mistake!

Apparently the resolution allows us to put boots on the ground in order to secure the chemical weapons. That is what Kerry was alluding to, I just put up a new post about it.
