Lois Lerner hires high profile defense lawyer to defend her in the IRS targeting scandal

September 17, 2013

Despite the Obama regime’s now debunked claim that the IRS targeting scandal was isolated to rouge agents in the Cincinnati office, and despite Lois Lerner’s claim that she did nothing wrong while she evoked her fifth amendment right, all the evidence is pointing to a grander conspiracy which reaches the upper levels of both the IRS and the Obama regime.

Soon after her defiant stand in front of the Congress evidence came to light that she was actually feeling pressure from above to right the wrongs of the Citizens United case before the 2010 election, and shortly thereafter the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups began.

And then five days ago America’s Watchtower reported (can I use that word now that the Congress is trying to define what a journalist is?) that Lois Lerner’s own emails might show that she specifically targeted Tea Party groups.

After all of this is it any wonder that Lois Lerner has hired a high profile defense attorney to represent her in the upcoming investigation?

They’ve defended the likes of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

Next up for the heavy hitters of Washington’s legal community: embattled Internal Revenue Service workers.

Even as the tea party-targeting scandal dies down, the staffers at the center of the mess are turning to some of the city’s top lawyers to defend themselves against ongoing investigations and congressional inquiries.

Lois Lerner, who became the public face of the scandal as the former head of the IRS tax-exempt unit, turned to William Taylor. He’s a founding partner of Zuckerman Spaeder LLP, where he has represented, among others, Strauss-Kahn and Kenneth Langone, who successfully fought prosecution in a high-profile executive compensation case.

But she is not alone, other upper level IRS employees are also hiring high profile lawyers to craft their defenses:

Holly Paz, a former senior-level IRS director, hired Roel Campos, a partner at Locke Lord LLP. He served on President Barack Obama’s Presidential Intelligence Advisory Board and spent two terms as a commissioner of the SEC.

And Joseph Grant, a senior IRS official who retired in the early days of the scandal, hired Barry Pollack, who previously represented Assange and Kevin Howard, Enron’s former broadband finance chief.

Considering the fact that we were told this was the action of rogue agents and confined to one office this seems like a highly defensive move and it is indicative of the fact that there is much more to this scandal than we have been led to believe.

Of course a person is innocent until proven guilty but at this point it sure looks as though she was deeply involved in this scandal and it leads one to wonder what her defense might be, could it be this: I was only doing what I was told to do. While I would love to see her use this defense because it would implicate either Barack Obama or some other high level regime appointee I have to ask this: how did that defense work out at Nuremberg?

It appears to me that the wagons are circling. They know full well they were wrong to target the Tea Party and they are scrambling to cover their tracks.

They certainly are circling the wagons to protect themselves, these are the acts of people who know they are guilty.

Acts of people that are desperate is more like it. Desperate people are dangerous and they make mistakes, we can only hope they make those mistakes and we find out about them. We cannot count on the media to tell us, but someone will sing on this. There has to be a lot of guilt floating around. Maybe some one will develop a conscience in this Administration!

You have to think they will slip up at some point, at least I hope they will!

You’ll have to pardon my pessimism, but I wouldn’t wager that anything will happen to this woman or the others. I’ve become so used to Obama and his minions getting away with everything they do with no recompense that I just expect there to be no consequences. I’ll be very surprised if anything such as criminal charges are ever brought.

I hear you there and I understand your pessimism because I also feel the same way. We have seen the Obama regime get away with so much that it seems as if there is nothing they cannot do.

These shananigans will only end when Obummer leaves the White House!
