John McCain condemns a study which found that 50% of the Syrian rebels are extremists

September 18, 2013

This is not news but John McCain wants to arm the Syrian rebels even though most people seem to feel as if there are many al-Qaeda operatives fighting against the Assad regime.

A new study was released which claims that roughly 50% of the Syrian rebels are extremists, but naturally John McCain does not believe it:

“Frankly, I just disagree,” McCain told the Council on Foreign Relations audience, challenging the contention by defense consultancy IHS Jane’s that “the insurgency is now dominated by groups with at least an Islamist viewpoint of the conflict.”

“There’s about 70 percent still who are Free Syrian Army,”

That claim flies in the face of the report which, according to the above linked article, found that only 30% of the rebels are fighting for secular reasons. So what does John McCain base his assessment on?

“I know who they are. I was in Syria and I met them.”

He looked into their eyes and he saw their souls, where have we heard that before? Oh yeah, George W Bush said when he looked into Putin’s eyes he saw a trustworthy person. At that time John McCain ridiculed the former president for making such a claim and now he is making the same mistake.

John McCain either fails to even consider the possibility that these people were putting on a front for him while he was there, or he fails to entertain the possibility that he met with only a small fraction of the rebels who are fighting over there.

But let us throw this study out and take John McCain at his word: Suppose only 30% of the rebels are extremists for a moment. Barack Obama’s justification for intervening in Syria’s civil war on behalf of the United States and our interests is that we cannot allow the chemical weapons to fall into the wrong hands because then it would pose a threat to the United States.

So using this logic it stands to reason that if the United States were to arm the rebels in Syria, which even at 30% the percentage of extremists is still pretty high, we run the risk that at some point the weapons we provided to what he claims are the non-extremist rebels could fall into the wrong rebel hands. Is this not also a threat to the United States?

Can John McCain not see this as a possibility?

I very strongly suspect that there is more going on here than we are being told about. With so many on both sides of the aisle wanting to get involved militarily I can’t help but think there’s players behind the scenes who are the driving force behind this. Since Saudi Arabia wants Assad gone I think there’s the possibility that they are somehow pushing for this. I just can’t see why our leaders would want to get involved unless the people pulling their strings were telling them to do it. And no amount of reports or public opinion otherwise is going to change their minds.

I have no doubt there is more to this than we know about. There are rumors of Saudi Arabia and Russia vying for oil and natural gas pipelines and I don’t doubt that this is what is going on.

Thar’s oil in them thar hills and our one armed bandito is surely beholden or just downright being paid off by someone to advocate for Assad’s overthrow. This chump doesn’t believe there are illegal hoards overrunning his state either; so much for credibility.

His credibility has been shot and he receives more money than anyone else from defense contractors. One cannot help but think this is what is motivating him.

The Middle East is not the only place that has “extremist”, we have our own fair share of them here, as well. McCain will say and do as he is told. Surely there are still some people that take him at his word, right? If only those people believe him, we have problems. We know that we will never be told everything that is going on, keep the little people in the dark, right? Money is a powerful thing to some people, he will play their game, even if it takes the USA down at the same time. We have become a laughing stock to the rest of the world and in such a short time. Who would have thought this would happen??? WE DID! Us, little people that don’t know anything. Makes you sick, doesn’t it? Bastards, all of them.

Yeah, there are plenty of extremists here and we have one in the White House. The world is laughing at us now and we have people like John McCain to thank for it, how these people continue to vote for him is beyond me. They must agree with him and that is not a good sign.

    Oh McCain knows all right:

Senator McCain called Moustafa a “patriot”, but it’s not clear which country he’s a patriot of, since it’s not Mouaz Moustafa’s first time around on the regime change bus tour.

Before the Syrian Emergency Task Force, Moustafa was the Executive Director of the Libyan Council of North America, which like the SETF existed to help push regime change. Before that, he mentions working with “rebels” in Egypt. …

It is clear to me that McCain is doing this for his own personal gain and is not really interested in doing what is best for the country.

FYI … The Benghazi hearing was a bust today. It wasn’t even covered on c span tv. I picked up some of it online. Fox promised to cover it but barely mentioned it. I don’t get it. C span was running junk instead on tv. We have two hearings tomorrow, I will be watching. I am determined!

If CSpan is going to cover it nobody in the MSM will. Why Fox chose to ignore it I can’t figure out. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
