The amnesty bill may be dead in the House
While the media considers the symbolic defunding of Obamcare to be the big story of the day, there was actually another story which might be more important that happened today in the House.
It now appears as if the “gang of seven” amnesty bill has been delayed and could actually be dead.
In a blow to the hopes of passing immigration reform anytime soon, the bipartisan House “gang of seven” plan is probably dead, and almost certainly won’t be introduced this fall as promised, a top Democrat on the “gang” acknowledges.
“It doesn’t appear that we’re going to move forward with the group of seven,” Dem Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a key player on immigration as a member of the gang, said in an interview with me. “The process is stalled. I don’t believe we’re going to produce a bill anytime soon.”
Luis Gutierrez blames the Republican House leadership for this:
The bipartisan group just wasn’t getting support from Republican House leadership,” Gutierrez says. “It’s just not gonna happen now.” Gutierrez continues to believe there is substantial tacit support for immigration reform even among Republicans, but that the GOP leadership refuses to acknowledge this or try to make something happen. “We need the GOP leadership to acknowledge the votes exist for reform,” he said
This would mean the establishment Republican leadership actually did something right for a change, and the reason I think this is a bigger story than the Obamcare story is because I do not believe the elitists in the Republican party have any intention of actually defunding the healthcare reform law.
We can celebrate this small victory today but there is still the chance that the House could push through several smaller measures so we will still have to keep a close eye on what the duplicitous and untrustworthy John Boehner has planned. I simply do not trust him.

Although the House may go along with other immigration measures, that amnesty may now be dead in the water is certainly a step in a good direction!

It sure is. We will take whatever we can get at this point!

Good news if it is indeed dead. We must remain ever vigilant.

Yes we must because this issue, and many others, are never going to go away for good. They just keep coming back time and time again…..

I also don’t trust Boehner. He’s given us every reason NOT to trust him. It’s a sad situation when we are just as mistrusting about the Republicans as we are the Democrats.

I am right there with you, I think there are three people in the whole Federal government that I like right now and that is very sad.

But the system is still broken and needs to be fixed. The Dem do not want a solution they are happy with the current chaos because there is money to be made. If US citizens can’t find work what work are these new immigrants going to find? Australia has woken up and is putting a stop to illegals why can’t we?

I don’t know if the system is broken or if the laws just aren’t being enforced. We should start with enforcing the laws already on the book and they looking to see where we stand before doing anything else.

Steve, speaking of systems being broken, our good old Illinois is so broken that Bill Daley decided to not tie up his time running for Governor, he considers it a lost cause. The funny thing about it, is that his family has had their hand in the destruction for years, the Chicago Machine. When even a staunch Democrat backs away from Illinois, we have major problems. Then we have Chicago, now the #1 murder/shooting capital in the USA….we are so proud! Emmanuel just isn’t up to the game of being Mayor there, guess he thought he was going to step in and take over. Are some Democrats that arrogant that they think they can work wonders with a cesspool like Chicago?

It is really saying something when the Democrats in your state start giving up! Maybe there is hope for you out there yet. We have only seen Chicago style politics on a national level five years and look at the damage done, I can’t imagine what it is like to have been living under this for all the years you have been.

The last two sentences are a major statement. I wouldn’t trust Boehner any further than I could throw a Steam Locomotive. Tim Dorgan

He has given us no reason to trust him because he has caved so many times in the past that you have to wonder where he really stands on anything.
