The House votes to defund Obamacare
The big news of the day is naturally the fact that today the Republican led House passed a continuing resolution which would fund the government but would defund Obamacare. Both sides are now out in force trying to spin this to their advantage: The Republican are saying they are doing what is best for the American people while the Democrats are claiming just the opposite.
Since the Republicans have gained control of the House they have held somewhere around 30 or 40 show votes to repeal Obamacare all the while knowing the measure would go nowhere. People like myself have been critical of the Republicans for conducting such a fake attempt at ending Obamacare. What these votes amounted was nothing more than an to an attempt to fool the people into thinking they were doing something about Obamacare while doing nothing in order to keep the issue alive because they feel they can win over more votes by campaigning against Obamacare than they can by campaigning on having repealed the law.
Those of us who have been critical of the Republicans’ phony attempts at repealing Obamacare have stated that if they were serious they would defund the law, and today they have.
However, I still cannot get excited about today’s vote for I do not think it was a real effort because the Republican leadership had to be dragged kicking and screaming into this fight.
People like John Boehner do not really support this effort and, in my opinion, will not have the courage, or the will or even the desire, to fight this tooth and nail because their hearts are not in this fight and they do not want this fight. I believe that there are a minority of conservative House members who are serious about this effort, but the leadership is simply taking advantage of this situation to once again make it appear as if they are doing something when they know full well when push comes to shove they will never vote to shut down the government.
The conservative House members are sincere in this effort, but it has been hijacked by John Boehner. He is simply using these people to attain his end goal. And that goal is keeping Obamacare alive and the government running for he knows this will never pass the Senate. It is just another shadowy game being played by the Republican leadership and I am sick of it.

We all Know that John is a coward at best and a Democrat light at worst. I hope conservatives will flood their congressmen and Seantors with e-mails supporting the defunding of ObamaCare. If there is a groundswell of support, Boehner will bend with the wind. Cruz, Lee, Paul, and Rubio are promising pull out all the stops they can in the Senate. I’m poppping popcorn and hoping for a good show.

It will be interesting to watch, that is for sure, even if I am already certain of the outcome. I get the feeling that Obama has something on Boehner.

I was in the camp of let’s let the guy hang himself with this obamacare. Today’s report of the Cleveland clinics laying off and cutting 350 million has given me pause. I can tell you the biggest unreported story is the folding of many hospitals or at least massive layoffs. My small system had 500 last year, of which I was encouraged to take early retirement. I have colleagues across the country who are telling me the same thing. The plan now as I see it is to bankrupt the hospitals and turn them into VA’s. that is how he will do it.

I have heard several people compare this to the VAs now and I think that is what is going to happen before all is said and done.

After this too little too late symbolic gesture fails and jobs disappear and hours are cut and premiums rise and coverage is lost Obama will still be standing and the American people will suck up his lies as he blames it all on the republicans. Do not underestimate this arrogant anti~american slime; He us smarter and had bigger balls than all of them. I fully expect the democrats to sweep the 2014 midterms followed by eight years of the smartest hag on the planet starting in 2016. I see no reason to think otherwise at this point in time.

I fear the same thing; Obama has outplayed the Republicans on every level and he has duped the American people, I believe the Democrats will win the House in 2014 and gain a super majority in the Senate and anyone who thinks differently is probably just trying to fool themselves.

What is really annoying is the Dem can not even offer to delay the individual mandate for 1 year. Emails, phone calls and letters don’t work because there is a generic answer written by a staffer sent in reply. The average voter doesn’t count.

Exactly, the businesses have a voice and they got their delay, but the little people have no voice and we are about to get screwed because nobody cares about us–we don’t have enough money for them to care about us.
