Lois Lerner retires from the IRS amidst scandal

September 23, 2013

Last May Lois Lerner admitted, through a planted question, that the IRS had been wrongfully targeting conservative groups before the 2010 election. Since that time she has been on administrative leave while an internal investigation was conducted.

She then appeared before the Congress and pleaded the fifth, claiming she did nothing wrong, but then we learned that Lois Lerner was feeling pressure from above to do something about the Citizens United ruling and just two weeks ago we found out that newly released emails might prove that she did in fact target conservative groups.

It is among this backdrop that today’s news comes out that just as the IRS’s internal investigation was about to be released which called for her ouster for “neglect of duties” that she abruptly retired. You can’t fire me, I quit!

Every person, every agency, and every organization has a natural tendency towards self-preservation and when tasked with investigating oneself or itself a person or agency will naturally trend toward self-preservation by downplaying the magnitude of the issue being investigated and that appears to be the case here.

While claiming Lois Lerner was “neglect of duties” the report still goes on to say there was no evidence of political bias. Really, what about the admission from Lois Lerner that the IRS wrongly targeted conservative groups which sparked this controversy in the first place?

By no means should this end the Congressional investigation into this scandal for while the reports are claiming that Lois Lerner’s head rolled because of this scandal what price did she actually pay?

If by retiring before she could be removed she is able to keep her pension and whatever other benefits she accrued over the time she was targeting conservative groups it would be almost as criminal as the actions her division of the IRS was engaged in under her watch.

Reblogged this on Brittius.com and commented:
If she didn’t retire, she would more than likely have lost her pension if terminated. Only big bosses get that play, anyone else would have been dragged through town by a horse, or stoned to death.

Thanks for the reblog, there is no doubt that she retired in order to protect her pension in my opinion. She was going to be removed and if she was she would have lost her pension, it appears to me as if she was tipped off about the report and so she retired in order to protect her pension and I hope that the Congress moves to take it away.

        You’re welcome.
Generally, when that happens, there is a “No Prosecution” Agreement made. If she is never heard rom again, then that is what the deal was. It also means that if prosecuted, the government was going to cut her loose and civil damages would be her onus of obligation. When they go “No Prosecution” then the government will delay and offer that she retired and nobody knows anything. If she went the route of staying, then if found guilty in civil court, her assets, pension, etc., all would be reachable because the mantle was pierced. A legal action as she took, is considered as Color of Law. She must have took those actions of her own accord or, took the hit on the chin to protect someone else, and if that is what happened, then more than likely, she was silently promoted, and other perks to sweeten the sorrows.

Yeah, it seems to me as if she got something for this decision. She didn’t do it out of good conscience, that is for sure. She is either protecting herself or someone else.

You bet there is something rotten here. I am listening an interview with Jacob Chaffits (?) on the house oversight committee. He thinks it is VERY suspicious that it is being announced today.

I think she was tipped off so that she could retire before she was removed in order to save her pension, it is very suspicious to me as well.

Put Congressman Darrel Issa in charge of fact-finding. By the time he finds out what kind of car she drives Obama will be on his fourth term.

Now it is being reported that the IRS has only turned over 10% of the requested documents, it is clear they are stonewalling this investigation in order to protect those at the heart of this scandal.

I hate it when crooks walk free. Especially when we have to continue paying for their retirement and benefits. Lois Lerner belongs in jail!
