Open thread for Sunday, October 6th: FFF
Here is the open thread for Sunday, October 6th; please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
As usual you can follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is going on in the world. You can also subscribe to receive email updates and if you do you will never miss a post again.
Please check out what the New Federalist Party has been up to by clicking on the link to the right. On the NFP Facebook page you will find a link to the party platform. Check it out and if you like what you see we are currently looking for donations and delegates to the states for the convention.
Now on to the musical selection; this week I have chosen a song called ‘FFF’ by the band Public Image Limited. (PIL)
PIL was formed in the late 70’s by Sex Pistols lead singer Johnny Rotten after the death of Sid Vicious and the breakup of the iconic punk rock band.
There are currently two factions in the Republican party: the McCain/Graham faction and the Lee/Cruz faction so today I dedicate the musical selection, in general, to all of those Republicans who have decided to throw their weight behind the ruling class elite Republicans in Washington and against the younger generation of Republicans, and specifically to my Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte, who has also decided to throw her lot in with the ruling class establishment. What a disappointment she has become!
Why ‘FFF’ and what does this dedication mean? ‘FFF’ stands for ‘Farewell my Fair Weather Friend’ and I find it to be quite apropos considering the state of the Republican party and the positions my Senator has taken as of late. Kelly Ayotte used the voters to get what she wanted and now that she has been seduced by the establishment she cares not about how the voters who sent her to Washington feel. She is a fair weather friend and unfortunately I have to wait until 2016 to bid Senator Ayotte farewell for good so this will have to do for now.
Normally I post live versions of the musical selection but I was only able to come up with one low quality live version of the song so I decided to post the studio version of the song with no video. Enjoy:
Senseless reasoning
You believe what you want to believe
Farewell my fair weather friend
On you no one can depend
Bad times
Now they must end
Whatever you want it to be
For you that’s what it will be
Honesty to you is arbitrary
Logic is lost in your
Cranial abattoir
Shallow
Empty inside
Sly witted
Full of snide
Bad times
Now they must end
The shutter-speed of your thinking process
Is small
Too small
Too full of pride
Bad times
Now they must end
Farewell my fair weather friend

Appropriate selection Steve. And rather topical considering the make up of the republican congressional contingent. In polite society they may be labeled fair weather friends but in the real world they ‘re garden variety weak knee opportunists with one finger in the air and one finger up their collective ass; cannon fodder for the unending democrat onslaught.

That is a more accurate description but I could not find a song with that title. 🙂

Steve, I’m not on the boards very often, but I read the Watchtower every day! I want to share my sadness here with you. I just learned yesterday that my very loyal and best male friend had passed away. We live hundreds of miles apart and I haven’t seen him in 2 years. I call him fairly frequently though. Yesterday I called to yak with him and the phone service had been cut off. I knew what this meant. I spent hours trying to get in touch with his close relatives that I knew. Finally, I got a hold of his niece, Siobhan. For two solid months he had weighed heavy in my heart. I just had to talk to him. I found out from Siobhan that he had passed away peacefully two months ago. I spent my entire day crying pretty hard off and on. He was from County Kildare, Ireland. His family had him cremated and they plan to scatter his ashed over the Emerald Isle. My heart is so heavy. I loved him so dearly as my best friend. I just had to share this!!!

Sorry for your loss, Wendy! We have to accept death, but we never truly get over it, seems the best we can do is be able to remember the good times and the not the bad so much. That seems so young now, 73.
