Texas drivers stopped at roadblock and asked for DNA samples

November 19, 2013

According to this report, as part of a Federal government survey, several Texas drivers, who had done nothing wrong, were stopped at a roadblock and asked to provide Federal contractors with DNA samples:

Some drivers along a busy Fort Worth street on Friday were stopped at a police roadblock and directed into a parking lot, where they were asked by federal contractors for samples of their breath, saliva and even blood.

It was part of a government research study aimed at determining the number of drunken or drug-impaired drivers.

“It just doesn’t seem right that you can be forced off the road when you’re not doing anything wrong,” said Kim Cope, who said she was on her lunch break when she was forced to pull over at the roadblock on Beach Street in North Fort Worth.

The Federal officials are defending this survey by claiming it is voluntary, but not everyone is buying it:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is spending $7.9 million on the survey over three years, said participation was “100 percent voluntary” and anonymous.

But Cope said it didn’t feel voluntary to her — despite signs saying it was.

“I gestured to the guy in front that I just wanted to go straight, but he wouldn’t let me and forced me into a parking spot,” she said.

“They were asking for cheek swabs,” she said. “They would give $10 for that. Also, if you let them take your blood, they would pay you $50 for that.”

At the very least, she said, they wanted to test her breath for alcohol.

She said she felt trapped.

“I finally did the Breathalyzer test just because I thought that would be the easiest way to leave,” she said, adding she received no money.

Does anyone really believe that people who fail to voluntarily give the Federal government a DNA sample will not be suspected of trying to hide something?

I have been saying for quite awhile now that between the NSA spying scandal, the IRS targeting scandal, and the fact that 20,000 drones will be flying over United States cities in the near future that America was already in a soft police state, and I wondered how long it would be before this soft police state became a hard police state. It looks like I have my answer…..

If anyone is not more afraid of this than anything done so far at the high temple of Socialsm, DC in the name of their Messiah, BHO, then you are already dead and buried in the grave. I would rather face ten thousand foreign terrorists in hand to hand combat than a government that can invade someone’s privacy and confiscate, unique identifying body fluids and other parts with our a warrant.

Just an after though, aren’t these the same pack of thugs that screams when ever abortion is mentioned claiming it is the woman’s body and her right to choose? I’m just sayin’, and probably trying to get people up an moving on this.

It is scary indeed when the people who work for us think they own us and can do with us what hey want. Apparently the only time a person has a right to privacy is when a woman wants to kill her baby.

There seems to be an ever increasing desire to track the actions and movements of the American people. I don’t necessarily have a problem with testing their breath for alcohol, but to ask for DNA and blood samples? That has nothing to do with a study to determine how many impaired drivers are on the roads. That was just an excuse to get what they wanted.

This is going way over the line, I don’t care that they claim is was voluntary because most people will feel intimidated and go along with this. I don’t believe this survey excuse either, it is a guise to get DNA and I find it disturbing.

If I’m to give a semen sample on the side of the road I will insist that a female officer hold the cup. This is my red line!

I suspect that it has nothing to do with impaired drivers. They are looking for something “special” in the DNA pool. Something which frightens them. By random sampling the general population, they are looking for the grapevine which will lead them to “it”. The last search was in Alabama.

A plain and simple 4th amendment violation. Unless of course you give your consent. Then you are an idiot.
