Obamacare: Zeke Emanuel admits that if you like your doctor you may have to pay more to keep your doctor

December 8, 2013

Zeke Emanuel, who along with Max Baucus, is credited as being a key architect of Obamacare appeared with Chris Wallace today and he was pressed on Barack Obama’s promise that a person could keep his or her doctor if they wanted to.

Here is how he answered the question when Chris Wallace asked him if that was a misleading statement because many plans in the Obamacare exchanges limit a person’s choice of doctors:

The president never said you were going to have unlimited choice of any doctor in the country you want to go to

Technically he is right, Barack Obama never said a person would have an unlimited choice of doctors, but that is what he implied. That answer did not satisfy Chris Wallace who continued to press the question:

“No. He asked a question. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Did he not say that, sir?”

“He didn’t say you could have unlimited choice.”

Chris Wallace pushed even harder and this was the answer he extracted from Zeke Emanuel:

But look, if you want to pay more for an insurance company that covers your doctor, you can do that. This is a matter of choice. We know in all sorts of places you pay more for certain — for a wider range of choices or wider range of benefits. The issue isn’t the selective networks. People keep saying, Oh, the problem is you’re going to have a selective network–“

“Well, if you lose your doctor or lose your hospital–“

“Let me just say something,” said Emanuel. “People are going to have a choice as to whether they want to pay a certain amount for a selective network or pay more for a broader network.”

“Which will mean your premiums will probably go up.”

“They get that choice. That’s a choice they always made

So let me get this straight; if you want to keep your doctor you may have to change plans but Barack Obama said you could keep both your plan and your doctor. Obviously this is not necessarily the case now is it? People who like their doctors might have to buy more expensive plans, tell me again how this makes healthcare more affordable to the people who were happy with the plans they had? It sounds to me as if many people have to choose between their doctors and their plans.

This news comes as no surprise to me, and should come as no surprise to regular readers of America’s Watchtower, for on July 18th of 2010 I wrote a post entitled ‘Obamacare: Want to keep your doctor? Pay a premium.’

As you can see by the date that post is over three years old and here is part of what I wrote all those years ago:

In an effort to keep down the costs of providing healthcare to their employees many small companies, and large ones as well, are beginning to look at less expensive plans. These plans include plans which limit a person’s choice of doctors. If your doctor is not on the list of accepted doctors under the new plan you are out of luck. These plans do offer you a chance to keep your doctor if he or she is not on their plan– you will just have to pay a premium. If you cannot afford to pay a premium for the privilege (as the article I linked to calls it) of keeping your own doctor, you will be forced to get a doctor who is on the new healthcare plan that you will also now have to purchase. So much for keeping your doctor or your plan.

If you are forced to purchase a higher cost plan in order to keep your doctor is that not a premium of sorts? If I knew this nearly three and a half years ago Barack Obama did as well and yet he continued to run around the country and lie to the American people. Now Zeke Emanuel is trying to spin this by adding conditions to the president’s claim, but all this does is offer us more proof that the president was purposely misleading the American people.

Zeke Emanuel is one creepy person. Don’t be surprised if his brother, Rahm, doesn’t give Hialry a run for her money in 2016. We’ve had the worst possible first black president, why not the worst poosible first Jewish president. The Democrats are on a roll.

Health insurance no longer makes any sense. You need to find a doctor and hospital that meets your needs and see if they belong to a health network where you pay a monthly fee for their services.

I think we all need to get as healthy as possible and stay away from the doctors offices. The more we go, the more information they will compile on each of us to “share” with other government departments. There are Naturopaths and Homeopaths that work well. We also have health food stores that have vitamins and supplements that can do the job, too. This whole mess is to control us, they are not interested in helping us out with having a doctor or getting meds, they want to tell us what we can and cannot do. In my book, that is not being a “free peoples”.

You nailed it Lou, this is going to be used to gather even more personal information on the people.

Yep, destroy the middle class and make us dependent on the government. That is the plan…..

Reid’s insurance cost increased (Weekly Standard but that bill will be paid most likely by tax payers, in some conniving way.
This can’t be a very good deal for Doctors. “70 percent of doctors said, even back in 2011, that they disagreed with the AMA’s position on health reform …” Forbes
From 1,200 pages to 33,000 … written by liars, crooks and double speakers (frauds).

Reid’s went up but he exempted his aides, I am sure we will be paying for his increase before all is said and done.

Orwell in Animal Farm: “Some animals are more equal than others.”

In this case, the ruling elite are the animals “more equal than others.”

Exactly, this is the two tier system we are headed towards; one tier for the elites and one for the plebians.

We are on the same page today. This is the creator of the death panels. He wrote the plan and published it in the medical journal lancet. It is a heavy slog to read through, but if anyone wants to know how they get on the death list, it will tell you how.
