Obamacare: 16,000 Iowans are told they must reapply for healthcare coverage

December 29, 2013

On December 19th America’s Watchtower reported on a story that 30,000 Illinois residents who had successfully enrolled in Obamacare were being told that they had to reapply for healthcare coverage if they wanted to be in compliance with the law because a glitch in the system erroneously said they were eligible for Medicaid coverage.

Here is part of what I wrote in that article:

Because these people no longer qualify for the low-income program it most likely means they will not eligible to receive a subsidy. This naturally means instead of receiving a new healthcare plan at a lower rate, which is what they thought was going to happen when the enrolled, they will probably be paying more for their healthcare than they were before the law went into effect. Talk about sticker shock! This is a double whammy for these people.

But now we are learning that it is not only Illinois residents who thought they had successfully enrolled in Obamacare who are being told they must reapply for coverage. 16,000 Iowa residents who had previously thought they had completed the process are now finding out their applications are in limbo and are being urged to reapply:

DHS Director Charles M. Palmer asserted, “We are working hard to ensure that Iowans who applied through HealthCare.gov will be enrolled in health coverage. We are encouraging Iowans who applied at the federal portal to reapply through our state website and call center. We will make every effort to process applications in a timely manner so that these Iowans can have certainty about their health care coverage.”

And the hits just keep on coming, just another glitch I suppose…..

Peter, Illinois has gotten a bad rap! Downstate is conservative ( except for one county way south down by Cairo, I believe) , but the votes from Chicago and the fraud that is running wild always seems to win out over the rest of us. Really sad state of affairs when Chicago can run Springfield telling them how the whole state is to be run. Try as we might, the liberals always seem to have ahold of the reins. We tried to get another conservative into the Governor position this last time, but darn, they did the usual, found those extra votes to push Quinn right in. Apparently there is a holding area with “extra” votes to be used “as needed”, who knew!!!! This whole ACA is so illegal, it defies logic, but guess we can no longer think logically and come out the winner. We have to be as crooked and deceitful as the other side and that is a tall order.

Living directly to the north of what is probably the most corrupt state in the nation it is hard for me to give Illinois a pass, but I will try. It seems as if Chicago somehow rules the whole state while other parts may be more conservative and that must be frustrating as hell!

I’m waiting for the stories of those that actually show up at the hospital and find out they aren’t covered. That’s next.

Here in New Hampshire we have only one insurance provider on the exchange and only about half of the hospitals are on the exchange. The hospital issue is going to be a big deal when people start to realize they have to go to hospitals which are much further away.

Steve, I also read that there are going to be a lot of the high end hospitals that us “little people” will not be able to use, guess they will not be in our “network”. So much for being working class and paying taxes. They will take and take until we have nothing left to give and then blame us for what happened to put us in this position.

I have read the same as well, it appears as if Edwards is right, there really are two Americas; the ruling class America and the ruled America. There is one set of rules for the ruling class elite and another set of rules for we plebeians.
