The EPA stripped an entire town from the United States and handed it over to the Indians

January 15, 2014

This story seems too surreal to be true and I hope that it is not, but if it is true the EPA has declared the city of Riverton, Wyoming to be the property of the Wind River Indian tribes and no longer part of the United States. The residents of the town have been told that if they still want to receive Federal  or State benefits and monies they must relocate to the United States. When I first saw this headline I expected the story to be from InfoWars, Prison Planet, or some other conspiracy website, but it is not:

The EPA declared that Riverton was part of the Wind River Indian Reservation after granting a “Treatment as a State” application from the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone tribes.

How the EPA has the type of power to override the Congress, which granted the land to Wyoming in 1905, is beyond me but apparently the rogue agency used the Clean Air Act to do so:

The tribes submit such applications to get funding for air quality monitoring under the Clean Air Act. However, this seemingly innocuous application ended up undoing the tribal boundaries set by a 1905 congressional act.

The EPA granted the tribes’ claim that the Wind River reservation extended over one million acres of land beyond what the 1905 Congressional Act established. By doing this, the agency effectively overruled an act of Congress, state officials charge.

In effect 10,000 United States citizens are no longer United States citizens if they decide to stay on their own property, in some cases property that has been in the family for years. Somehow I think the Federal government will still expect these people to pay their taxes even though the will not be eligible for any of the benefits.

Is any more proof needed that the Federal government is out of control? If this story is true there is literally nothing the Federal government cannot do to us based on a whim or an agenda.

Perhaps these are just the right people to piss off! The Native Americans were here on this land before any of us “civilized” people came here to drive them on to reservations. Mostly these “reservations” were alien pieces of land they had never encountered or lived on. These Native Americans are just the groups to tell the Govt. to SHOVE IT! Molon Labe!!!

Now if this was a Israel and Palestine and Israel forced some of their settlements to move – oh this has happened, but the progressives say this is not enough. The relationship between the NA and the NonNA has been anything but smooth. The Feds become heavy handed when trying to deal with past injustices. The progressives seem to go over board when they are pushing their causes. They assume the NA are victims and the ends justify the means.

To think that suddenly the EPA has this type of power is frightening! What else is the EPA ready to do in the name of reparations?

I have read other cases where the Feds have used a heavy hand to declare areas as wetlands and thus subject to their control. The Feds heavy hand seems most prevalent in the West where they are a major land owner.

I can almost understand the wetlands, almost, but I still cannot wrap my head around the EPA using the Clean Air Act to strip land from one group of people and give it to another. The Feds owning most of the western lands is definitely a major concern.

Something to have ‘reservations’ about! Where the DHS protects the criminals in high places the EPA will be used to ‘clear’ the street for relocation – Operation EPA Cleanup. Who’s hands areunder the table in this one?
Here’s WY Trib news from last Dec. http://trib.com/news/state-and-regional/epa-riverton-part-of-the-wind-river-indian-reservation/article_d476fc0c-9dc5-5660-bb52-eb9fff1639f8.html … “administering air quality on the reservation.” If you look at a map of that area you wouldn’t think that a concern. Some of the comments show the clear division. jr2jr2000 has a sobering view of it. Hummm. New definition/meaning to ‘Reservation’.

But of course this town wan’t part of the reservation until the EPA declared it was, very troubling indeed!

This is absolute Tyranny! And most likely it is a trial balloon. Some people will make noise, some news and politicians will get involved, and the EPA will grumble something about an apology. We will pat our selves on the back at having pushed back the mean ole government like little kids running around the porch after winning a game of checkers with Grand Pa that he probably let us win in the first place. Instead, these evil, arrogant b@stards are playing a long game of chess. They are like the Viet Cong (in more ways than one) probing the lines under cover of darkness to test our defenses and resolve.

It is days like this that I fear the majority of the people in this once great nation have lost what it would take to effect an intellectual revolution and return to a nation of that cares for it self, a nation of morals, a nation who believes in individual freedoms and the responsibility to live with the consequences of freedom.

Two other points that just stun me. The governor of Wyoming had his attorney general send a letter to the EPA ASKING them to reverse their decision. WTF! That governor should go public, hold a press conference on the steps of the Washington monument and tell the EPA to go to hell.

And finally, and just about the most important part of this story, one of the greatest underpinnings of our constitution and a free society is individual property rights, especially the right to own land. This is a very new concept on the scale of world history and we are loosing it every day. The EPA has been the tool of choice for the current batch of dictators and petty officials in the cesspool that was DC.

You nailed it about property rights; the founders understood that if a person did not have a right to own property that he really did not have any rights, this was a fundamental belief upon the rights of the free man and that is why the Feds are looking at destroying it.
Good point on the Wyoming governor, pretty please isn’t going to get it done he should be out there on the tv screaming and hollering!

Good morning, I slept on it and I am madder, even more outraged if that is possible than I was last night when I read this story. I called the governor’s office and all they would tell me was that they are ‘in discussion with the EPA’. I also left a deeply passionate word of encouragement for the governor to fight and to not allow this to happen. I warned that it is far reaching beyond a piece of land in Wyoming. I also sent an email encouraging Govenor Mead to do something unexpected and incredibly public like gathering a coalition of govenors to go to DC, kicking the EPA out of his state until they settle down, and such.

If any one out there feels like it, here is the contact info for Govenor Mead,
        http://governor.wy.gov/contactus/Pages/default.aspx

And go read Government Bulies by rand Paul, This is a huge step even for the EPA, but not really unexpected after reading Rand’s book.

Well, I still had doubts about this story but if you contacted the governor and they admitted they were talking to the EPA about this it confirms this story is real. Thanks for providing us with the link!

    Hello,
This a bit too crazy for a horse. In one point that land belong to the tribe but for a reason it is not given, And now they give it BUT telling them if you go there you are not American…!!!!

What I understand that yes they are there to pay but receive nothing in exchange…as everybody knows that Indian can’t survive without government help, and that mean schooling too.. schooling which mean a way out or learn like be a Doctor and come back for the benefit of the tribe.

In conclusion the Government see a easy way to make saving on the back of the poorest and weakest… and that it is also for retired people.. people with sickness. Everybody but the Wealthy and Healthy
    Wil.

Caveat emptor is the byword in real estate. This issue has possibly been simmering below the surface for years. I’m sure the NA didn’t have the best legal council in 1905. I’m sure the state was interested in economic development and the NA were not going switch from h & g to farmers. If the Feds feel they cheated on the treaties then they should have a fund to buy back the land. There are potentially hundreds of these types of issues that need to be addressed, but the Feds want to use the same tactics they used in 1905 but in reverse.
Two wrongs don’t make a right

The taking issue has been an ongoing theme at SCOTUS. If this land has an economic value then issue is far from settled.

Good points, even if the Native Americans have a legitimate claim this was not the right way to do it. And why the EPA? That is the part that bothers and frightens me the most about this whole story.

The Feds, Pres Regan and his minions, in 1984 put the EPA in charge of all environmenal policy on Indian Land. Apparently like everything the Feds does the original program has morphed.

Once an agency is created or a power granted it will only increase from there, as this case shows us.

This is a bit puzzling, isn’t it? How did they get that much power? Well we know that this Administration will do what it wants. If that Governor doesn’t stand up for those people and they lose their property, then they could do it anywhere. How would we feel if they knocked at our door and said they were taking our houses, in the name of “whatever” and there was nothing we could do about it? That time is coming, if this is allowed to happen. Also, we know that nothing is done in this Administration without another motive, we should keep our eyes open and ears open to what is really behind this land grab. Anymore, I always think of these issues as “pre-requisites” to something bigger.

Like everything else in the government the power expands over time and this is the result, they simply absorb more power than they were ever supposed to have and they get away with it because we allow them to. If this is allowed to stand it will only be the beginning, there will be more to follow.

It looks like the EPA is getting its feet wet with this new manifest destiny operation in bumfuckegypt before launching its all out blitzkrieg in more populous areas of the country. Its a good thing the Dutch paid the indians on Manhattan Island that $26 or with its newly elected commie mayor their could be big trouble right here in river city. Here in NJ I’m gonna’ keep an eye out for any of the Lenni Lanape tribe poking around my neighborhood.

Exactly, this is a trial balloon and if they get away with it there will be more stories just like this to come in the near future. Sounds like part of Agenda 21 to me.

Nothing shocks me anymore or so I thought. I had read that parts of Maine were having problems with getting clear title to their properties because of Indian claims, but this was moving through the courts, not that that should bring any reassurances.

I hope you are right about that but a person commented above that he contacted the governor’s office and they confirmed they were in talks with the EPA. While this issue might not be resolved it appears to be true.

Glad to hear you both are doing well.  I called the governor’s office and spoke to his secretary and all she would say, with a sort of tongue in cheek tone, is that they are involved in talks with the EPA.  It the emphasis reported in the article I sent was probably a bit over emphasized, but the EPA is still way over stepping its bounds.  I did find another article on line that wasn’t available yesterday that said the EPA was awarding more money to the tribe for ‘Clean Air Monitoring’.  I guess dirty air in Wyoming has become such a problem.  Any way, this regime is interested in transforming a Republic into an oligarchy and since there is not a real news media any more, it is up to us poor commoners to report on what happens.  Trouble is, it is like the ‘telephone’ game we used to play as kids.  Things can get distorted real quick.

The studying is going well,  I have three weeks till I take my boards again.
