Since declaring war on the Tea Party donations to Karl Rove’s organizations have dropped 98%
Almost one year ago to the day America’s Watchtower covered the story of Karl Rove creating the Conservative Victory Project in order to protect the Republican establishment from Tea Party challengers in the primaries.
Here is part of what I wrote at that time:
a new group backed by Karl Rove called the Conservative Victory Project is on the scene. The name of this group sounds great but don’t be fooled because it isn’t what it seems to be.
This group is being set up to help ensure that those ruling class elitists in Washington remain in Washington:
The biggest donors in the Republican Party are financing a new group to recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s efforts to win control of the Senate.
The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races.
So now that it has been a full year since Karl Rove declared war on the Tea Party how are his three Super PACs doing? According to this article, not so well for since that time he has seen donations to his pet projects drop by 98%.
As Politico notes, though, “Rove added a third group to the network in 2013, forming the Conservative Victory Project to counterbalance the influence of Tea Party and conservative grassroots forces in GOP primaries.”
Since then, as Breitbart News reported, “Rove’s organization has been so tarnished among the conservative base that candidates fear donors will not contribute to any group associated with him.”
This is great news indeed for it signals to us the possibility that the average Republican voter is finally waking up to the fact that all the establishment Republicans care about is staying in power and are no longer willing to simply vote for the lesser of two evils.
People like Karl Rove, and the rest of the establishment Republicans, have decided to abandon the base in order to chase the elusive moderate vote and they have done so because they figured the base would still vote for them because they had no other place to go. They have taken advantage of this year after year but it now looks as if the base has finally had enough and they are voicing their displeasure with their wallets. Will this be a wake up call? Only time will tell.
Interesting. I do have to wonder how much of that drop is due to it being an off year for major elections. This also assumes that Rove is not getting money that is not being disclosed.

That is an interesting point, and I am sure it being an off year politically has something to do with the donations being down. 98% seems to be an awfully high number for that to be the only reason behind it.

I wonder what it would look like if the Elects & Representatives actually did their job and ‘represented’ the citizens of America. Oh Happy Day! that would be.

I’ll be linking this in my 7:00AM post tomorrow.
And they wonder why we call them the “stupid party?” How do you have a party while telling the base to STFU?

I hope the donations are now going to truly conservative groups.

Yeah, hopefully the money is going to the people trying to defeat Rove people in the primaries.
