Sheila Jackson Lee says writing Executive Orders for the president to sign should be the Democrats’ number one priority on their agenda

February 5, 2014

As we all know Barack Obama has promised threatened to use Executive Order to write into law what the Congress is unwilling to pass into law. It is his way or the highway.

You would think that even the Democrats in the Congress would be upset at this affront to their Constitutional power but sadly that does not seem to be the case for Sheila Jackson Lee sees this as more of an opportunity than a usurpation.

According to this article she now feels as if the Democrats’ top priority should be writing Executive Orders to send to the president for his signature.

We will be answering the call of all of America because people need work and we’re not doing right by them by creating work,” the Texas congresswoman said. “I believe this caucus will put us on the right path and we’ll give President Obama a number of executive orders that he can sign with pride and strength,” Jackson said Jan. 29 at a press conference where she and fellow Democrats launched the Full Employment Caucus.

“In fact, I think that should be our number one agenda. Let’s write up these executive orders — draft them, of course — and ask the president to stand with us on full employment,” Jackson Lee added.

I have written several posts in the past about what I feel is Barack Obama’s abuse of the Executive Order for I believe he is using the Executive Order to write law instead of using it to execute the laws already passed by the Congress. I have been met with some opposition by people who state that Barack Obama is not abusing this power because it is within the purview of the Executive branch to dictate to Federal agencies how to implement the laws. This opposition does have a legitimate point because there seems to be a fuzzy line between executing the laws and writing the laws using Executive Order.

However, if Sheila Jackson Lee’s proposal is adopted by the Democrats in the Congress, what is this if it is not a commingling of the Executive branch and one party in the Legislative branch, collusion if you will, to write laws without debate in the Congress under the guise of Executive Order in order to render the opposition party irrelevant?

This abuse of power is precisely what the Founders were trying to avoid when they wrote the separation of powers into the Constitution in the first place because they sought to ensure that one branch of the government, or one person, did not have too much power.

That’s right, he has a phone and a pen and he isn’t afraid to use them.
I hope the left does make this a priority. Then finally the right will have a clear issue to fight and organize around.

They are called Executive Orders because they come from the Executive. If there was a minimum IQ requirement to hold public office, Sheila Lee Jackson would be on welfare.

Technically, because she is employed by the taxpayer and dependent on us for her living, she IS on welfare of sorts. 🙂

One of the executive orders already signed gives the gov. the right to put people to work doing whatever they choose, under a declared emergence situation and ‘garnish’ funds. So, she might be cluing people in that they’ve going to ‘get to work’ … just not the way they hoped.
