New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte still supports amnesty even though she admits Barack Obama cannot be trusted to enforce the law

February 9, 2014

Last week John Boehner put an end (at least for now) to his bid to grant illegal aliens amnesty stating the Barack Obama cannot be trusted to enforce immigration laws. New Hampshire Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte agrees with John Boehner when it comes to not being able to trust Barack Obama to enforce the law but still wants to move forward on comprehensive immigration reform anyway.

“Here’s the deal: The status quo is totally unacceptable,” Ayotte said on CBS News’ Face The Nation with Bob Schieffer on Sunday.

“There’s a trust deficit that the Speaker is facing right now and it’s related to ObamaCare and the disastrous rollout,” she said. “Because, let’s think about it, immigration means doing a lot of complex things well. And in addition to that, the administration keeps issuing executive orders to change the law, very frequently.”

However, Ayotte insisted the GOP should move forward anyway.

“I think we should solve this,” she continued. “I think [Boehner] can find a way forward. Certainly, the bill that came out of the Senate was not perfect, but it was a good solution to a hard problem. I think it’s an important issue to solve – not only for the country, but for the Republican Party.”

Republicans who support comprehensive immigration reform, which will include amnesty, do so under the justification that there will be border security measures in the bill. You have to give a little to get a little according to them. Of course they are conveniently forgetting the fact that there are already border security laws on the books which Barack Obama is ignoring. She is right about one thing; the status quo is not an option. But what the Republicans should be focused on is forcing Barack Obama to enforce the laws which are already on the books and not with passing laws which the president will ignore anyway.

If the Republicans pass comprehensive immigration reform complete with border security measures and Barack Obama decides to only enforce the parts of the law with which he agrees while ignoring the portions of the law he does not agree with what has changed? Barack Obama will have gotten everything he wanted and he will have given up nothing in return.

This is just one more reason, in an ever growing list of reasons, why Senator Ayotte must be primaried when she comes up for reelection in 2016. Even if this means a candidate with little name recognition will face off against former Governor John Lynch or current Governor Maggie Hassan with little chance of defeating either of these two foes. For what difference does it make, to quote Hillary Clinton, if Kelly Ayotte were to defeat either John Lynch or Maggie Hassan when she is aligned so closely with their political beliefs anyway?

If enough of us moved to Costa Rica, we could take over the country and try the American experiment again. Sure we would have to learn Spanish; but the way our country is going, all Americans will soon have to know Spanish. Just saying…
