Gun control activist arrested for illegally carrying a gun at an elementary school, is there more to this story than we are being told?

February 10, 2014

Two feel-good stories in one day: first we had the story of a suicide bombing instructor accidentally blowing up and killing many of his students and now we have this story about a gun control activist who was arrested for illegally carrying a gun in an elementary school:

A Buffalo, N.Y. community activist who is well known locally for pushing for a highly restrictive 2013 gun control law has been arrested for — wait for it — carrying a gun illegally at a public elementary school.

The arrested gun-control advocate, Dwayne Ferguson, caused quite a scene at Harvey Austin Elementary School, reports local CBS affiliate WIVB.

At about 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, police acted on a pair of anonymous 911 tips. A battalion of cops quickly swarmed the school. The brigade included over a dozen squad cars, the SWAT team and K9 units. The Erie County Sheriff’s Air One helicopter and what appears to be an armored vehicle also turned up.

The school was immediately placed on lockdown. Parts of two streets were closed.

About 60 students who were still on campus participating in after-school activities were funneled to the cafeteria.

Cops searched the school room by room and would not let parents on campus until they were satisfied that no shooting threat existed.

His defense is simple; he claims he forgot he was carrying a gun when he entered the school. I would argue that any law abiding citizen who forgets he is carrying a gun is not responsible enough to carry a gun in the first place and I don’t know any who would forget for they make sure they are in compliance with the law. That is why I think there is more to this story. Is this really a feel-good story after all?

Law abiding gun owners, such as myself, have argued time and time again that we are not the problem when it comes to gun violence. We argue that gun control laws only hurt the law abiding citizens while letting the criminals, who do not adhere to the law, off the hook. How many gun control activists have a license to carry? I would bet the percentage is negligible, yet he did and he carried a gun into a gun free zone. Coincidence?

Could this be nothing more than an attempt on his part to show that even law abiding gun owners cannot be trusted to adhere to the law in order to push more gun control legislation and gain the support of people who would otherwise be adverse to punishing law abiding gun owners? Did he purposely carry his gun into a gun free zone hoping to get arrested so tht he could push the anti-gun agenda? That is what it sounds like to me…..

This is so goofy it’s strange! The guy looks strange as well. If he’s so against gun why’s he carrying? There’s many places that guns aren’t allowed, it’s not like the old West! Even they didn’t forget they had a gun belt on!
It would be interesting to know ‘who made the two 911 calls’. Why not just go up to the guy and say the May West comment or tell him! ‘Hey get out of here anti-gun carrier!’
“… over a dozen squad cars, the SWAT team and K9 units. The Erie County Sheriff’s Air One helicopter and what appears to be an armored vehicle also turned up. School lock down … parts of two streets closed …” Then his Rev. Giles (what was he doing there?) states that ‘Dwayane’s reaction was to get his 50 kids safe ‘… he was the one with the gun! Goofy.

It sounds like a setup designed to show even law abiding people cannot be trusted with guns to me.

I wouldn’t put it past the anti-gun crowd to do just that. I’m sure they feel the end justifies the means.
