Yes, Bill nails it correctly. The major problem is that most city police and sheriff’s office budgets are never subject to review by the local citizens. It is always assumed the Police Chief or Sheriff has the best interest of citizens in mind. Yet these agencies are run like fiefdoms. It is little wonder the officers have swelled egos as to their self-importance.

We seem to see more and more stories about the police becoming more emboldened to go after the people they are supposed to protect and I find it to be very troubling indeed.

Wow, Bill, you may have been denied your dream of being a fighter pilot but being a watchman on the wall is, IMHO, a greater calling.
