Latest poll shows Scott Brown slipping in New Hampshire

March 7, 2014

For the last three weeks or so Scott Brown has been the target of Democratic operatives who have unleashed a barrage of ads against him here in New Hampshire. The funny thing is he is not even a candidate at this point so this is a preemptive strike against him because polls have shown that if he enters the race he will most likely be the Republican nominee.

It appears as if these ads are working because it looks like Scott Brown is in a free fall in the latest poll, which shows him losing to Jeanne Shaheen 52-39. This is really something when you consider that Jeanne Shaheen repeatedly trumpeted Barack Obama’s if you like you plan you can keep your plan lie of the year.

To put this in perspective; in the New Hampshire Obamacare exchange there is only one insurance provider and that provider only offers three plans in the state. This means there are less choices available to those seeking insurance in New Hampshire. On top of that less than half of New Hampshire’s hospitals are approved by Obamacare, meaning residents may have to travel great distances, and New Hampshire residents on Obamacare will be losing the opportunity to visit specialty hospitals in Boston which they previously enjoyed. With all of this the voters still prefer Jeanne Shaheen.

The two most common complaints against Scott Brown are the fact many people see him as a carpetbagger and voters are upset he has not already made a decision about running. New Hampshire voters simply do not trust the former Massachusetts Senator and they feel he has simply moved to New Hampshire for personal gain and glory, his move reeks of political opportunism. And they feel he is stringing them along during an election cycle in which Jeanne Shaheen should be vulnerable.

In addition to the policy differences I have with Scott Brown I also share these same critiques with those who were polled. In fact the one thing that bothers me more than his carpetbagging ways is the fact that he is stringing the voters along. Both of these issues bother the hell out of me and it is time for him to do something other than keep the people guessing.

The fact is, in my opinion, that Scott Brown has the best chance of beating Jeanne Shaheen and because of this the establishment Republicans will pressure him until he joins the race. Having said that; if my choices are between Scott Brown and Jeanne Shaheen I do not see enough of a difference between these two liberals to  cast a vote for either one and I will vote for a third party candidate. If these means Jeanne Shaheen is reelected so be it.

Unlike a democrat who after being the architect of Hillarycare and then carpet bagging her way into the US Senate via New York as did Bobby Kennedy-D in 1965, the qualifying factor for the dissecting of Scott Brown, his record and his credibility is the R after his name. I have maintained vigouresly and often that the wholesale ignorance of the american voter will trump the destruction of what was once the greatest healthcare system on the planet. NH may be indicative of what is to follow in most of the other 49.

I fear you are right, although this poll shows us that perhaps people are not simply going to vote for a person because of the letter after his name this time around.
