Obamacare: Union report claims workers will lose up to $5 an hour in wages due to the increase in premiums
We have already seen unions, for selfish reasons, begin to turn on Obamacare by claiming they were betrayed by Barack Obama. See, when the unions thought that they were going to be exempt from the law they did not give a damn how the law might hurt most Americans because they thought they were going to be above the law. Now that they have found out they are no better than non-union Americans they are starting to regret supporting both the law and the president.
The latest example comes from this story, which cites a new report by a major union which claims low wage union employees could face what amounts to a $5 an hour cut in pay due to the higher costs of insurance under Obamacare.
A national union that represents 300,000 low-wage hospitality workers charges in a new report that Obamacare will slam wages, cut hours, limit access to health insurance and worsen the very “income equality”President Obama says he is campaigning to fix.
Unite Here warned that due to Obamacare’s much higher costs for health insurance than what union workers currently pay, the result will be a pay cut of up to $5 an hour. “If employers follow the incentives in the law, they will push families onto the exchanges to buy coverage. This will force low-wage service industry employees to spend $2.00, $3.00 or even $5.00 an hour of their pay to buy similar coverage,” said the union in a new report.
The report continued:
“Only in Washington could asking the bottom of the middle class to finance health care for the poorest families be seen as reducing inequality,” said the report from Unite Here. “Without smart fixes, the ACA threatens the middle class with higher premiums, loss of hours, and a shift to part-time work and less comprehensive coverage,” said the report, titled, “The Irony of Obamacare: Making Inequality Worse.”
Higher premiums, loss of hours, and less coverage, where have I heard all of these complaints before? Oh yeah, it is what many of us predicted would happen if Obamacare was enacted and now it is coming true. Of course, if you and I knew this was going to happen so did the union bosses, only they did not care because they thought they would be playing by different rules than you and I and they convinced their minions of the same.
Now that they know they are not a special class of citizens, as they once thought they were, they are shocked and chagrined at the prospect of being treated no differently than the rest of the American people, whom they so willingly threw under the bus.
The report states “only in Washington” could something like this happen but what these union leaders are forgetting is the fact that Obamacare could never have passed without their support so they are duplicitous in this whole fiasco and as such they deserve exactly what they are getting.

Uh… Correct me if my math is wrong, but.., if unions are anticipating a $5.00 per hour reduction in wages to pay for ObamaCare, then, if minimum wage is boosted to $10.10 per hour that all the jackasses are jumping up and down for joy, are, that means the ACTUAL HOURLY WAGE for a person earning $10.10 (The “New” Minimum Wage), they are earning is: $5.10 per hour. Oh yeah.., Progress. Another Obama FAILURE. Balloting places will be mighty hostile this Midterm Election cycle, and the 2016 Presidential Election.

I hope they lose a bunch more members. The union bosses are asking for Obamacare to be repealed. They just want to be exempted. Screw them!!!!

I agree, the union bosses are part of the reason why this passed in the first place so to hell with the. I hope that this wakes more and more union members up to the fact their bosses really do not care about them.

It seems to me they are getting exactly what they asked for. I’m sure they wouldn’t admit that, but it’s true, nonetheless.
We tried to warn America of the consequences of ObamaCare, before it was ever passed into law. We were shouted down and accused of racism. Now, we are seeing attempts to “fix” the legislation with “smart fixes”. ObamaCare doesn’t need to be fixed. It needs to be repealed.
