Open thread for Sunday, March 9th: Shoplifters of the World Unite
Here is the open thread for Sunday, March 9th; please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
As usual you can follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is going on in the world. You can also subscribe to receive email updates and if you do you will never miss a post again.
In case you have not noticed I have replaced the old Twitter widget with a new, fully interactive Twitter widget. This widget updates my tweets in near real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. Is also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?
Please check out what the New Federalist Party has been up to by clicking on the link to the right. On the NFP Facebook page you will find a link to the party platform. Check it out and if you like what you see we are currently looking for donations and delegates to the states for the convention.
The musical selection of the week is a song called ‘Shoplifters of the World Unite’ performed live by The Smiths.
My only weakness is a listed crime
But last night the plans of a future war
Was all I saw on Channel Four
Shoplifters of the world
Unite and take over

Seventeen Seconds is one of my all time favorites by The Cure, of course there are not many songs by The Cure which are not high on my list. My favorite band of all time!

“The Cure are your favourite”..I know, It’s why I did play with words…somehow….
I remember The Cure from their first album and stop after Pornography, after this album they get out of this sort of this Dark Poetic, doesn’t mean what they did next was bad… I don’t know do I get a Favorite…Joy Division still give the similar feelings, ..may be Depeche Mode…
But I’m open to new thing like FEVER RAY

Yeah, early Cure is the best and most of the latest stuff is not that good. Bloodflowers is a great later album, I love that one. As for The Head on the Door and Wild Mood Swings; there are some good songs on them but overall they are not the best.
Joy Division and Depeche Mode are up there as well, along with Echo and the Bunneymen.
That Fever Ray stuff is interesting, thanks for sharing it.

As I have said on this forum before, I keep looking for something that will help me make sense of what is going on here in America. I came here to throw out an idea, but the song may have done a better job with my idea, it might actually be the perfect metaphor for what I see..
Imagine a store filled with goods. Anyone can come in and look around. You are welcome to take what you want, IF you leave the right thing in exchange. Money is the easiest, but barter is common especially in other countries.
Shoplifting is when you take things and don’t leave anything behind. America is the store, and people are welcome to come in. But increasingly, those who take only take, and leave nothing of value behind. I don’t think it is a stretch to say the “shoplifters of the world” have united, and sadly, “the store managers” (leftist politicians and judges) are allowing the shoplifters to take what they want without anything in return.

Sadly I think you are right the shoplifters have united and they are stealing from the taxpayers.
