Barack Obama pleads with young people to sign up for Obamcare

 As has been previously reported by many outlets Obamacare is dependent on young, healthy people signing up for healthcare in order to subsidize the healthcare of older, more sickly people.

  It has been said that without participation of this group of people Obamacare will eventually collapse and so Barack Obama is now actively pleading–this article calls it shaming–younger people to sign up for his signature legislation.

On Seacrest’s show, Obama scolded young people for not signing up in sufficient numbers and warned them that if they don’t come out and support him, he’ll have to fine them.

“If you can afford it–you just decide you don’t want to get it because your attitude is ‘nothing’s ever going to happen to me’–then you’ll be charged a penalty,” he told Seacrest.

Healthcare.gov launched its own scolding campaign with a new ad featuring a stern looking mother figure warning kids that they’d better get covered–or else!

  Of course Barack Obama is ignoring the fact that there are two disincentives built into Obamacare which make it unlikely that a majority of young people will sign up for the law.

  The first disincentive is the fact that Obamacare allows parents to keep their children on their family plans until they are 26 years of age. Why would a young person pay for coverage on his or her own when they are already covered under their parents’ plan?

  But of course this does not apply to all young people because there are many young people, who for whatever reason, have separated themselves from their parents and are on their own and this is where the second disincentive kicks in.

  Because the penalty for not buying insurance is so low while the cost of insurance is so high many young people will make the decision not to buy healthcare insurance–and pay the fine–until they need it and because Obamacare prohibits the insurance companies from denying people with preexisting conditions from purchasing healthcare this is actually a smart, and easy, economic decision for most young people to make. There will be people hurt by this decision but on the whole it is a gamble many young people will think is worth the risk.

  If the reports are true and Obamacare does indeed collapse because young people do not sign up than I can come to no other conclusion than to believe this was how the law was designed. If I can see this than surely the people who wrote the law knew this when they were writing the law or they are more incompetent than I ever believed they were, and that is really saying something!

  But I do not believe this is incompetence because I believe the plan was to collapse the healthcare system from the beginning in order to pave the way for a single-payer system. Barack Obama are looking to scapegoat young people and their lack of participation in the plan for the collapse of the plan when this was their intention from the beginning.
