Nancy Pelosi dodges question on whether Democrats should run on Obamacare in 2014

April 1, 2014

While touting the unconfirmed claim that 7 million Americans have signed up for Obamacare–and while ignoring the fact that 6 million Americans have lost their healthcare coverage and many were forced to sign up for Obamacare, which means that seven million Americans who did not previously have healthcare insurance did not become insured for the first time–Nancy Pelosi dodged the question about whether or not Democrats should run on the law she is so proud of in the 2014 election.

Here is part of what she said today when talking about Obamacare:

“Well let me just say, those of us who fought for this knew what we believed in and really don’t think we needed any vindication,” she responded. “We just had to protect it from those ideological anti-government people who didn’t want to see it succeed — for ideological, or political or whatever those reasons are.”

“Taking the heat on something like that — well, that’s what we do,” she bragged. “That’s like, all in a day’s work.”

Okay, she is proud of the law, but what about the idea of using the Obamacare success story to help Democrats win in 2014?

“We’ll see,” she shrugged. “I think the fight for the election — elections are always about jobs. So I think that while we’re proud of the Affordable Care Act, we now pivot to job creation.”

That seems just a tad non-committal to me but then she went on to claim that Obamacare was indeed a jobs bill:

“Which is — you know, the bill creates — will create 4 million jobs,” she added. “This is a jobs bill — we never advertise that — it’s a deficit reducer, it’s a job creator. And again, it is affordable, quality care. So maybe it just clears the air a bit so we can have a fuller discussion of jobs. And that’s a place where Republicans have been totally bankrupt in terms of their suggestion.”

So, if Nancy Pelosi is proud of Obamacare, the election will be about jobs, and Obamacare is a jobs creator and a means to reduce the deficit, as she claims, why do the Democrats not advertise this and why is Nancy Pelosi not willing to say the Democrats should run on Obamacare? You would think they would be more than willing to tout their achievement, is not that what politicians usually do during a campaign?

The answer is obvious to me: they are lying to us once again.

Let those youngins enjoy the thousands of bucks of copays. First MRI is on them. Of course they won’t pay it, and the hospital will be stuck.

Very true, we will still end up paying for them and I thought that was part of the reason we needed this bill.

Of course we don’t believe that 7 mil have signed. But queen P. doesn’t want to have to change her labor force in her sardine factory.
