Open thread for Easter Sunday: Hallelujah

April 20, 2014

Here is the open thread for Sunday, April 13th; please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

As usual you can follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is going on in the world. You can also subscribe to receive email updates and if you do you will never miss a post again.

In case you have not noticed I have replaced the old Twitter widget with a new, fully interactive Twitter widget. This widget updates my tweets in near real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. Is also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?

Please check out what the New Federalist Party has been up to by clicking on the link to the right. On the NFP Facebook page you will find a link to the party platform. Check it out and if you like what you see we are currently looking for donations and delegates to the states for the convention.

Well, it is Easter Sunday so I thought I would post a song somewhat relevant to the Holy Day. No doubt when you saw the title of today’s open thread you thought I would be posting Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ but you would be wrong. I instead give you a Nick Cave song with the same title.

In this song Nick Cave sings about giving his nurse the weekend off. After making this decision he is unable to function so he decides to take a walk. While on this walk he comes to a house where “all hopes and dreams are kept within” and a young lady tempts him to enter the house. After considering the offer Nick Cave realizes his nurse was his one true salvation and would not approve so he heads home singing Hallelujah. I believe the nurse is a metaphor for God and the house represents temptation, in the end Nick Cave resists temptation and returns to his nurse–meaning he returns to God.

And a bonus audio track from Nick Cave this week to celebrate Easter, here is ‘There is a Kingdom.’

Just like a bird that sings up the sun
In a dawn so very dark
Such is my faith for you
Such is my faith
And all the world’s darkness can’t swallow up
A single spark
Such is my love for you
Such is my love

There is a kingdom
There is a king
And he lives without
And he lives within

The starry heavens above me
The moral law within
So the world appears
So the world appears
This day so sweet
It will never come again
So the world appears
Through this mist of tears

There is a kingdom
There is a king
And he lives without
And he lives within

  Happy Easter everybody!

Thought this might be of interest to most of us here, having to do with what has been going on at the Bundy Farm. I do not have proof yet, but my friend had heard there are a lot of Fed SUV’s converging on Las Vegas right now. I will try to find something out about that.
I am including this video on a retired BLM employee Whistleblower. I do not know if what he is saying is true, but it sure is an eye opener:

I would be surprised if there WASN’T an army of feds heading to Bundy’s place. Harry won’t give up, no matter what..

I haven’t had a chance to watch the video yet, but there are rumors the feds are preparing an assault and I do not doubt that.

Nobody has ever accused me of being the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it occurred to me that something is going on that has NEVER happened before in history.
Threw out time, the young have been the warriors, and the elders have been the leaders. It just took time to work your way up through the ranks to a position of leadership and whether it was business, religion, or government, that usually meant that leaders had maturity, experience, and hopefully some wisdom.
No more. Now a 20-something calls the president and tells the president the kid wants a meeting, AND GETS ONE! (Zuckerberg)
Power and wealth used to be the result of time and effort. Now, all it takes is an idea from an 18 year old and that idea is worth billions.
So now we have very young and rich geeks (as they call themselves) with almost no worldly experience or understanding,PRODUCED by a college system which doesn’t value liberty, capitalism, American exceptionalism, or free speech able to skip the line and go straight to the top as leaders with great power.
No wonder Obama keeps flying to Silicon Valley for fundraisers.

Maybe I am clairvoyant (but probably not). Look up Congressman Steve King and the attack by Zuckerberg. He is using his tremendous wealth and power to try and get his way.

Friday night, my husband and I were lucky enough to see retired Sheriff Richard Mack, again, over in Springfield, Il. speak. He was out at the Bundy Ranch and was going to talk about what had gone on there. He was involved in a court case in 94-97 where he went up against the Federal Government to the tune of $400,000 to stop the gun control and destruction of state sovereignty associated with the Brady bill. He had other sheriffs file similar lawsuits after him. From what he said there were #2, #3, #4 and #5 lined up behind the first bill. Does anyone remember Federal Judge John Roll that was shot and killed during the get together that shot Gabby Giffords? He was involved in this case.
Sheriff Mack started a group called the CSPOA, that stands for Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association. The group is not only made up of Sheriffs, but city police, deputies, etc., that are concerned with what is going on in American today.
The room was packed Friday night. There were a good group of speakers. One lady in particular, Kriss Anne Hall, is a Constitutional Attorney, from Florida. She lost her job when she tried to teach a Constitution class. Now she goes around giving talks about what is going on with our Government.
Sheriff Mack has a 5 DVD pack that is called “Erecting the Barriers” as well as books he has written about what is going on and what is happening to our country. A big point is how our Government is trying to do away with our County Sheriffs, the last front we have against a tyrannical government. They also were stressing that the States need to take back some of the power they have given the Feds. I agree with that, totally.
If you have a chance to see this man and the law officials, attorneys, pro-gun speakers, etcs., he brings with him, please try to do so. It was well worth it. I have seen him speak 3 other times and have never been disappointed with who he has with him.

Some interesting information there, thanks for sharing it Lou. I just wish Sheriff Mack hadn’t talked about putting women and children on the front line because this is going to be used against these people in whatever happens.

Is he recorded as saying that or is it hear say? Was it him wanting them on the front line or someone else? Guess those would be my questions.

I found this with them (whoever they are) strategizing about putting women at the fore front. It upsets me to hear that he could possibly condone or consider this. I would like to know who was making these decisions. This was as wrong as the Feds possibly shooting them.

On my post about rand Paul hitting back at Harry Reid for calling Bundy supporters domestic terrorists I had a quote from Reid where he said that they were calling for women and children to be put on the front line. This was the first I heard of it so I googled it and found out that Sheriff Mack did indeed call for this tactic.
Here is an article about it complete with an interview with Sheriff Mack explaining why he said it:

Thanks for the article, it clarified things for me. Sad day when it comes to something like this from both sides of the issue.

You are welcome. There is plenty of over the top rhetoric coming from Reid and we do not need to give him any ammunition. Of course he still misrepresented what Mack said by claiming the militia on the site were bragging about this when in fact they never did, and that is the danger of making statements like this. You should check out my post on Rand Paul’s reaction to Harry Reid. 😉
