University students cancel “Hump Day” event because camels are racist?
Just a couple of weeks ago Dartmouth University was forced to cancel a Cinco de Mayo fundraiser because it was deemed “exploitative” and “inappropriate.” This event was supposed to raise money for cardiac research and was not meant to be offensive in the least but apparently serving tacos to raise money for research is no longer acceptable in today’s politically correct America.
Now the politically correct police seem to have struck again; this time it involves a “Hump Day” celebration planned by the University of St. Thomas which had to be canceled. Their sin? They planned to have a small petting zoo which included a camel that people could have their picture taken with. See, this could be seen as being offensive to Muslims. Here is more:
Students at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota have cancelled an event to celebrate the end of the year after complaints that bringing a camel on campus could offend those of Middle Eastern cultures.
The “Hump Day” event, put on by the Residence Hall Association (RHA), was supposed to be “a petting zoo type of atmosphere” in which students could hang out and take photos with a live camel. According to Aaron Macke, the group’s advisor, the camel is owned by a local vendor and trained for special events.
But the event was subsequently cancelled after students took to Facebook to proclaim their concerns. The students said they were concerned about the money spent on bringing the camel to campus—around $500—and the implication that it would be racially insensitive to Middle Eastern cultures.
At this point it seems as if people are just looking for reasons to be offended. Where will this end?
I really am at a loss. Are we the only ones who have kept our sanity? Is it something in the water? When picking a topic to post, I hardly know where to start to pick a topic.

Or have we actually lost our sanity and these are just illusions? That almost might be better.
