White House apologizes for not notifying the Congress about the prisoner exchange

June 3, 2014

download  I have not written anything about the Bowe Bergdahl story as of yet because I am still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. When I first heard the story on Saturday I was happy because one of our heroes was coming home. I assumed the five GITMO detainees were low level people and while I did not like the idea of letting them go I thought about my sons and how I would want the government to do anything in its power to free them if I were in this situation.

But then it started to get strange with the Rose Garden press conference and the news these were high level GITMO detainees. Coupled with the reports that Bergdahl was a deserter and possibly wanted to renounce his US citizenship and I started to wonder what was really going on here.

I still do not know what the truth is at this point so I am not going to write anything about these aspects to an evolving story, but we do know one thing at this point in time; it is pretty apparent that Barack Obama broke the law by not notifying the Congress 30 before the release so that is what I am going to focus on today.

Earlier today Barack Obama defended his decision not to notify the Congress because he claimed he has been in touch with the Congress for many months about this possibility, he felt he had to act and he could not wait for approval so he did it on his own.

But in the wake of this defense comes news that Dianne Feinstein is claiming that the White House called her last night to apologize for not notifying the Congress about the prisoner exchange.

  Here is more:

The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee said a top White House national security official called her Monday night and apologized for not providing Congress with 30 days’ notice, as is required by law, before transferring five Guantanamo detainees in the recent swap for prisoner of war Bowe Bergdahl.

“It’s very disappointing that there was not a level of trust to justify alerting us to that,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, told reporters. “I had a call from the White House last night, from (Deputy National Security Adviser) Tony Blinken, apologizing for it.”

She went on to say that the White House said this was an oversight:

Feinstein said it was her impression from the call that the lack of a notification was an oversight on the part of the White House, although she said Blinken may not have used that exact word.

This is where I differ; this, in my opinion, was no oversight for as Barack Obama said in his defense, he was in contact with the Congress previously about this exchange so he knew what the general feeling was:

Feinstein said the top Democrats and Republicans on the national security committees on Capitol Hill had discussed the possibility of a prisoner swap in 2011 “when it was part of a bigger proposal,” but “there were very strong views and they were virtually unanimous against the trade.”

Barack Obama knew what he wanted, but he also knew the Congress was almost unanimously against the exchange so he did what he wanted to do believing it would he easier to apologize after the fact than it would be to go to the Congress and convince them that he was right.

I often wonder if the floppy earred one pee’s in his pants from laughing so hard after giving one of his patented heartfelt apologies to this lapdog nation?

No doubt that he knew he could get what he wanted and would not be questioned by the MSM, the apology is worthless because he knew what he was doing.

When you have the worship of the entire lame-stream media, it is much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, especially, since the lame-stream media has already given permanent and absolute forgiveness for everything for ever.

Obama may have taken it one bridge too far with this one.

We will have to wait and see, but this might be the one he cannot spin his way out of! Even Hillary is distancing herself at this point.

That was NO G. D. apology! If he wants to apologize, do it to the ENTIRE Congress AND to “WE THE PEOPLE”, but especially to ALL of America’s men and women in the military!! THEY are the ones whose lives he just put on the chopping block! THEY are the ones who will pay the price for his STUPIDITY!! There is a reason why WE DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS!!!!!!

    IMPEACH THAT SOB!!!

That is true, he owes the entire Congress a public apology not just a high ranking member in his own party!

No way was this inadvertent on Obama’s part. He had already been to Congress two years ago — about releasing these very prisoners. Congress said no then and likely would have said no again. So, Obama went ahead on his own — and made a photo op out of the announcement as well.

Exactly, he did this on his own because he already knew the Congress wouldn’t agree to it. He felt there would be so many good vibes from this story that there would be no backlash but it hasn’t worked out that way and he was trapped by his own narcissism.

No doubt he already knew what he was going to do and who he was going to inform. Harry Reid being one of them does not surprise me. No, we do not know the whole story and if the media has any say in the matter, we will be fed crap. What gives me hope is that the good men and women in our military will not let this rest. If we are to believe them, and I will put my faith with them, we will learn what really happened. There are a lot of people, military and civilian, that are calling for impeachment, but I think it goes beyond that. Now he does not want to leave one of our men behind! What did he think they did with Benghazi? My distrust of this administration is at an all time high and I thought I had already topped out!

With so many of the people who served with him coming out I am inclined to believe he did desert them. I can see no reason why so many would lie about this.

5 for 1. That’s what the ‘fraud in power’ is all about … and even the 1 is as the 5. He’s a no win situation. Wouldn’t it be great to see those in Congress or anywhere in this ‘acting Gov.’ do something RIGHT FOR A CHANGE! It seems that the only ‘action’ they know how to do is pad their pockets and do under-the-table dealing! Half of them are now millionaires and take care of their ‘selfies’ successfully. Psychopath Kool-aid for all!
Is there one or two GOOD ones left to do anything worthy of breath to kick out the trash!

How about 60,000 for one with the Mexicans? A decorated marine sitting in Tijuana while the Guatemalans and Salvadorians flood our border states under Obama ‘s wing? Where the f__k is our out to lunch congress? …guess they’re out to lunch.

This all seems to be a big game to this administration. It is funny, but I just do not see anyone laughing. I am sick of them doing whatever they want. We need to secure our borders now more than ever, we need to round up the illegals, stop giving them and all their offspring benefits that belong to Americans and send them packing! We need to clean our house and senate and our state house and senate and get people elected that care about our country. but, I know I am dreaming, there are too many people that like all the free stuff. They are selling their souls and for what? I know I will be labeled something bad, but I am beyond sick about what this man (term used lightly) has done to all of us. This is no longer a political party problem, it is an American problem if anyone is paying attention!

And the illegals are pouring over the border at this time in preparation of amnesty and more and more Republicans seem prepared to go along with it. If this happens there will be no turning back!
