The Obama administration says Chuck Hagel made the final decision on the Bergdahl swap
Since the announcement of the Bergdahl prisoner swap Barack Obama has been facing increasing criticism from both sides of the aisle. Even people such as Dianne Feinstein have voiced loud dissatisfaction with the president’s decision to break the law by not notifying the Congress about the deal.
This is something that Barack Obama never expected because usually he can count on the Democrats to fall in line, but the general negative reaction from the public amid allegations of desertion by Bergdahl, and the release of reportedly high Taliban officials, has some Democrats distancing themselves from a president whose popularity is diminishing daily.
With the Democrats distancing themselves from the president it is time for Barack Obama to start distancing himself from the Berdahl deal, and that is what he did at a closed door meeting with the House yesterday.
When asked who made the final call a White House spokesman said the call was left up to Chuck Hagel:
According to Buck McKeon, the chairman of the House Armed Services committee, the Obama administration’s briefers told he gathered House members that the person responsible for the decision to make the deal was not President Obama but Chuck Hagel, the secretary of defense.
“Now wait a minute, are you saying it was Secretary Hagel that made this decision, or was this the president of the United States?” McKeon, a California Republican, said to reporters. “It was the president of the United States that came out with the Bergdahls and took all the credit. And now that there’s been a little pushback, he’s moving away from it?”
This, of course, flies in the face of what Chuck Hagel said just last week:
“I signed off on the decision,” Hagel said. “The president made the ultimate decision.”
Move over granny, make room for Chuck because he is coming to visit you and the others under the bus.
This is some funny shit; you can’t make this stuff up. And was it also Chuck’s decision to go with single ply instead of two ply toilet tissue in the White House?

Yep, the spin continues. Where once he was taking the credit for this now Barack Obama is running from it.

In direct violation of the 2014 NDAA Budget Agreement, where the Secretary of Defense must notify the Congress prior to any decision or taking an action involving detainees at GITMO.

I would say, knowing that Hagel, being a Republican in this Administration would have its drawbacks! You would think that should have been in the back of his mind, but apparently he was either not that smart or believed they really thought he was right for the position!! So, we come down to whether or not WE believe he made the decision! I am pretty sure we are in agreement that the decision was NOT made by him. The spin, however, will convince a vast majority of Americans that it was!
