The IRS claims it “lost” the emails of six more employees

June 17, 2014

Just when you thought the IRS couldn’t get any more ridiculous then when the agency claimed a computer crash wiped out all of Lois Lerner’s emails to other governmental agencies and the White House which were related to the targeting scandal the corruption riddled agency one-ups itself.

The IRS is now claiming that more computer crashes caused the lost of pertinent emails from six other employees who also just happened to have been allegedly involved in the scandal.

  Here is more:

It’s not just Lois Lerner’s e-mails. The Internal Revenue Service says it can’t produce e-mails from six more employees involved in the targeting of conservative groups, according to two Republicans investigating the scandal.

The IRS recently informed Ways and Means chairman Dave Camp and subcommittee chairman Charles Boustany that computer crashes resulted in additional lost e-mails, including from Nikole Flax, the chief of staff to former IRS commissioner Steven Miller, who was fired in the wake of the targeting scandal.

What else needs to be said about this that I haven’t stated in my previous posts about this ludicrous notion? I am not going to repeat myself, however this comes on the heels of a report that when  John Koskinen testified before the Congress and promised to turn over he emails the IRS already knew they were conveniently destroyed.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) knew for months that Lois Lerner’s emails had been destroyed, even before the current IRS commissioner testified that his agency would produce all of them.

The IRS knew as early as February 2014 that Lerner’s emails were missing, top lawmakers on the House Committee on Ways and Means confirmed Tuesday. The IRS had this knowledge nearly three months before IRS commissioner John Koskinen agreed at a hearing to turn over all of Lerner’s emails to the committee.

If this report is true it means that John Koskinen lied to and mislead the Congress while under oath and it is time for the appropriate actions to be taken.

At least I’m starting to hear from many other computer professionals, including one from Microsoft who has stated it’s impossible to “lose” emails. They exist, however, as far as the illegal government has already gone, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the IT department for the IRS isn’t already attacking the the devices that have this information backed up.
Emails are sent from “clients”, that’s your PC, (someone sends you an email) by connecting to a dedicated email server running the appropriate software that accepts the email, and then attempts to deliver it to another client computer (another person with a PC). Even though the server delivers the email to the client, it does *not* delete or remove the email.

There are 2 different kinds of “client” computers.
    1. The ones that use specific software (on your PC) to send/receive emails, ie: the PC you use. Many people use Microsoft Office’s outlook. The emails collected this way, are actually on your PC, but there is a copy on the server that sent it to you. Your PC however is probably not always on, and your email client may not always be running. In either case, the server trying to deliver your email will eventually connect to your computer via the email client software, and send you a *copy* of that email, while retaining a copy of what it sent you

    2. The other type is online services such as Yahoo mail, Gmail, or Hotmail. In this case, another server acts as your personal computer and receives the emails *for* you, and is never really ‘placed’ on your own PC. In this way the mail is received almost as soon as it’s sent as this server acting on your behalf is *always* on.

In either case, it is possible to request a ‘copy’ of an email that you’ve deleted because it’s always there* Either method, allows you to contact the email servers owner, Yahoo, or Gmail, or if you use Outlook through an ISP such as Cox or Comcast, although there will more than likely be a charge for it’s recovery.

    * Now computer companies offering these services (online email clients on your behalf), and dedicated email servers, can’t keep all emails on the actual server. So they do back ups, and copy the emails to what used to be tape media. These days, it’s all done on VTS systems. Virtual tape systems. A collection of petabytes of hard drives that emulate tape drives, and collect the emails. There will be at least 1 more system with petabytes of storage that will be a mirror of the data on the VTS system (at a seperate DR site located far away from the original data center) that is holding the emails in backup. At *least* 1 more. The server that accepted your emails are then purged of emails older than a specific date, maybe 3 months, 6 months or even a year. But those emails will permanently be on at least 2 other major backup VTS systems *somewhere*.

And the illegal government knows where these devices are.

It’s kind-of like ‘Slap-Stick’ humor. Someone ‘slipped on a banana peel’ and the computer crashed … losing only the emails being called into question. And that’s the story, and they’re sticking to it!

And they are going to double down on it. They know it is not believable but they do not care, they are laughing at us.

It doesn’t really matter, they say they are missing, so be it. The media takes us for fools and we might as well be, because there is no one really stepping up to get the emails. We have the different groups/committees that are looking into it, but they are just way too polite with their “demands”, so why would anyone be afraid not sending anything to them? I am sure behind closed doors, they are getting a good laugh out of the whole thing.
