Obamacare: Federal exchange cannot verify 2.6 million “inconsistencies”

July 29, 2014

Last week the Government Accountability Office released the results of a sting operation it conducted to test the Obamacare Federal exchange eligibility verification system and we learned that most fake applications were being accepted.

An undercover operation found that the majority of fake Obamacare applications submitted were approved by the health law’s enrollment system.

Fake applicants were able to get subsidized insurance coverage in 11 of 18 attempts, according to a report from the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office. The agency conducted the sting operation to test the strength of the Affordable Care Act’s eligibility-verification system.

The undercover investigators created fake identities by inventing Social Security numbers, income, and citizenship, and by counterfeiting documents.

It is true that this was a small sample but in my opinion it called into question the whole eligibility verification system of the Federal exchange, and now it appears as if my fear was well-founded: today we learned the Federal government cannot verify the eligibility of 2.6 million Obamacare applicants.

With 8 million people having signed up for Obamacare through the federal exchange this means roughly 25% of the applicants have not been verified, well below the GAO’s findings but unacceptable nonetheless. (And for the record 44% of these concern citizenship status.)

The U.S. government cannot verify 2.6 million eligibility requirements submitted by some of the eight million people who have signed up for health insurance subsidies on the Obamacare federal exchange, according to a report by the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) inspector general (IG)

And why can they not verify these applicants?

“The Federal marketplace was unable to resolve 2.6 million of 2.9 million inconsistencies because the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) eligibility system was not fully operational,” the 32-page IG report stated.

The eligibility portion of the website is not yet fully functional. But, but, but I thought the website was fully functional at this point? Isn’t that what we were told?

Yeah, I don’t think that Obama feels this is a problem because in the end they are going to want to sign up all these unaccompanied children up for healthcare.

It never ends. From the Blaze- more bucks out of our pocket.

The Obama administration on Tuesday will publish a proposed rule that would give thousands of temporary and seasonal government workers access to the government’s health care program, even though current law would appear to prohibit them from using that program.

The rule from the Office of Personnel Management would let these federal workers sign up for coverage under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, and also allow some of them to enjoy a government contribution to their insurance premiums. Both steps would be done through OPM’s proposed regulation, and not through an act of Congress.

I saw a little something about this. What good is the law if Obama is just going to change it whenever he wants to? And of course this is not isolated to Obamacare as we all know at this point.

I hope that middle class America is finally realizing how badly they got hosed by Obama and the Democrats with ObamaCare. Some middle class warriors they are!

In the midst of the Ford-Carter recession the Gods in DC gave us $200 apiece to keep us happy. Although there is no inflation they would have to dole out $1000 to placate us today.
