Latest New Hampshire poll shows tight races for both House seats

August 20, 2014

New Hampshire has two seats in the United States House of Representatives and both are held by Democrats at this time, but the latest New Hampshire poll shows that both could be in trouble.

Here are the results from the First District, which just happens to be my District:

Republican Frank Guinta leads Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, 45 to 41 percent and Shea-Porter leads Republican Dan Innis 44 to 37 percent. The poll has a margin of error of 4.9 percent.

Both Frank Guinta and Carol Shea-Porter are well known to the voters of New Hampshire: Carol Shea-Porter regained her seat in the House after a rematch with Frank Guinta, who had beaten her two years earlier, so this does give us a pretty good feeling about what the voters are thinking with Guinta leading at this point. However with the poll being within the margin of error this will probably be all about turnout.

Now on to the Second District:

Democratic U.S. Rep. Ann Kuster leading Republican Marilinda Garcia 39 to 36 percent and Kuster leading Republican Gary Lambert 41 to 35 percent. The poll has margin of error of 4.7 percent.

This one is interesting because the Second District is considered to be the more liberal district and Ann Kuster is just about as liberal as they come while Marilinda Garcia is a staunch conservative. For her to be so close could be a sign that Kuster is in trouble.

Stay tuned, it is going to be an interesting election cycle.

This bodes well as a forecast of the temperature of the electorate.

I hope so but somehow I still have that feeling the Republicans are going to blow it.
