Racist Harry Reid strikes again: cracks Asian jokes at an event

At a recent event in front of an Asian audience Harry Reid decided to use the opportunity to crack a couple of racist Asian jokes.

Here is what he said:

“I don’t think you’re smarter than anybody else, but you’ve convinced a lot of us you are,”

Later, before walking off stage, Reid quipped: “One problem that I’ve had today is keeping my Wongs straight.”

  Besides not being funny these comments may have hurt the Democrats: the group that he was speaking to decided not to support the candidate Harry Reid is backing for Lieutenant Governor, instead supporting the Republican opponent. This is probably why he felt the need to apologize:

“My comments were in extremely poor taste and I apologize,” Reid said in a statement to TIME after publication of this story. “Sometimes I say the wrong thing.”

  At least he did not say he sometimes says the “Wong” thing…

  I would normally cut Harry Reid a break, I am sure he meant no offense by these comments, however one has to wonder what he would have said if a Republican had made these same remarks. (Think Mitt Romney and ‘tar baby.’ This is a term I had always associated with a sticky situation and had never heard was a racial epithet until he uttered it.)

  And this is not the first time Harry Reid has uttered racist remarks. Who could forget that he once cooed over Barack Obama because he was “light-skinned” and only used a negro dialect when he wanted to?

“He [Reid] was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,’ “

   Harry Reid had to apologize for that as well. But who even uses the term ‘negro’ nowadays? They are usually the same people who still use the term ‘colored’ and they are always racists…
