Barack Obama on golfing after issuing a statement on James Foley’s beheading: “I should’ve anticipated the optics”

September 7, 2014

As has been well reported and criticized by people on both sides of the aisle, after issuing a statement on the beheading of American journalist, James Foley, Barack Obama immediately went to the golf course to get in another round.

This had even the most ardent supporters of the President baffled as they wondered how he could be so cold and calloused as to not see it fit not to take in another round of golf after so serious and tragic an issue.

On ‘Meet The Press’ earlier today Chuck Todd asked Barack Obama about this and this is what he had to say:

“But there’s no doubt that, after having talked to the families — where it was hard for me to hold back tears listening to the pain that they were going through, after the statement that I made — that I should’ve anticipated the optics,” Obama admitted. “That’s part of the job.”

I find that statement to be quite interesting indeed because as anyone who has ever tried their hand at the game of golf knows; golf is probably more of a mental game than it is a physical game.

If your mind is not in the right place you cannot golf–or at least cannot golf well–you have to clear your mind of all distractions, slow your pace, relax, and concentrate on nothing but your next shot.

So I find it interesting that while he regrets the “optics” of golfing after issuing the statement he does not regret his decision to go golfing. This says quite a bit about Barack Obama’s mindset in my opinion.

While he claims he was almost brought to tears after hearing the story of family members he was still able to put it all out of his mind and attend to what he apparently thinks is more important.

Supporters of the President claim that golfing is his release, his way of dealing with the stress of the job, but I have a different take on it. I find him to be cold-hearted and uncaring, self-absorbed and detached. Just the fact that he is now only worried about the “optics” after it backfired on him shows me that he is more concerned about how he is perceived than he was about the actual beheading. How else could he possibly get his mind in the right place to golf after this unless it really did not affect him the in the same manner it affected most people?

But Barack Obama was not done there as he lamented the “theater” of politics. Here is what he said:

“Well, it’s not something that always comes naturally to me,” Obama conceded. “But it matters. And I’m mindful of that.”

That statement is half-true: he is right in saying that he is mindful of the theatrics but he is wrong about it not always coming natural to him. This is the man who delayed the rescue of James Foley by thirty days–which allowed ISIS to move the doomed journalist before he could be rescued–so that the rescue attempt would conveniently fall on the Fourth of July.

But theatrics did not play any role in this deadly decision, right?

I was at a seminar this week where there were different keynote speakers each day. All successful people in their respective businesses. Every one of them was a much better speaker than Obama and I couldn’t help but think how much better any of them would be at the job of President. Alas these folks will never allow themselves to be subject to the circus that politics has become.

Yeah, I think that many of those people who would make great politicians are too smart to run for office today.

The only talent Obama has is that he is a fairly good actor. He does well when dekivery lines someone else wrote for him. When he has to speak without a script, he says something stupid, as he did in this case. He is so full of himself; and, in his case, that’s not a good thing to be full of.

Agreed Jim, when he stays on script he does okay but when he tries to ad lib we find out he is not all that he is cracked up to be.

Steve, you say ” I find that statement to be quite interesting”. You are too kind. “I find that statement to be” completely disingenuous. And you are right, as Bill Whittle points out, President Coward did everything with “optics” in mind.
As the MSM keeps saying, “Don’t worry Berry, you do have cloths, and they look marvelous”

Okay, I was trying to be nice. 😉 but you are right and this man is nothing but an actor playing the part. Does he really expect us to believe he does not like the theater aspect of the job?

Contempt is too kind a word. I mean that’s what I feel for his sycophants, his acolytes, his defenders. What I feel about him is unprintable.

It is all about the “show” with him…he is an actor up on stage. The problem is, he is so enamoured with himself, he has lost sight of what more and more Americans are finally seeing he is, a fake! He is so arrogant, I know people like him, I stay away from them. Those type of people will never see themselves for what they are. If they were normal, they would wonder why people walk the other way when they see them coming, he fits the mold. We are in need of someone in our HOUSE that is a person we can identify with and he is NOT it.

Interesting to me he used the word ‘optics’, which is telling – for isn’t this ‘anomaly’ all about ‘image’ and ‘presentation’? To him and his kind, it just shows that the public needs more ‘conditioning’. The perception of the public – ‘caring’ and having a ‘conscience’ – needs ‘tweaking’ – ‘remolding’ more inline with ‘subservience’. A nation of sociopaths – just like the leader – ‘enlightened’ by darkness. The ‘subtle serpent’ who’s intent to be like the Most High God (Is 14:14), has technology to make up for what he isn’t (NSA = all seeing – Intel = all knowing = ever present), plus changing the meaning of words (hate is love, etc) results in beguiling and enslaving the masses into helping him achieve his prideful goal.

I said above it was all about “show”, but after thinking about it awhile, I really think it is all about “timing” and his is becoming way OFF!

He is no different than the thief or murderer who regrets his crime only after being caught. One must wonder if his brand of morality, or lack thereof, is being internalized by his daughters.

He blames the press, but it was his photographer that shot the pics and gave them out. Obama wanted them out. Period.
