Weekend open thread: Thank You
Here is the open thread for September 13th and 14th. You might be wondering why I have posted the open thread a day early and why it encompasses two days and I will get to that after the formalities of the open thread.
Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week was yet a very slow week by the standards of America’s Watchtower; we only discussed eight topics and three of my posts were Bill Whittle videos.
I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?
This was a very special week for me personally; on September 9th my wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. I met Lauri when I was a young lad of 17 and she was only 14 and we have been together ever since. We knew fairly early on that we were meant for each other and on September 9th of 1989 we married and have never looked back.
Lauri is my wife, my love, my lover, my soul-mate, and more importantly, my best friend and I cannot imagine my life without her. I would be nothing without her. I love Lauri more than anything else in this world and I thank God for putting the two of us together. Just looking at her smile makes me glow for she is the most beautiful person, both inside and out, that I have ever seen in this world. Together we have raised two of the best boys a parent could hope for and I know in my heart that it is because of her that Andy and Tim have turned into the men they are.
This weekend Lauri and I will be headed to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to celebrate our love for each other. Thank you my dearest friend!
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.
Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.
Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look… see.
And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness….I’m glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Good for you and Lauri, Steve! How lovely and wonderful your bonding – & like you state, a God Blessing for sure. PLUS you two dedicated to making it happen together. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Best to you both for your special get away!

It was just announced that for the first time, more people are single than are married. If they could read your words, and know your feelings I am sure that number would change. Congratulations to you both!

Troubling to say the least, and we are supposed to be building a huge Middle East coalition against these barbarians?

Congratulations on your 25th wedding anniversary. That is an accomplishment so many couples never achieve and it is not to be taken lightly. Well done, Steve and Lauri.
Tammy and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in October and I feel the same way about her. Without her, I am nothing.
